Papa-n-Oma cruisers Posted October 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2022 Has anyone used the service Luggage Direct (from the ship directly to your airline and you pick up your Luggage at your final destination? We will be short on time in Seattle to our flight and we don't want to be bothered with our check-in luggage. We want to know if it work as good as HA says it does. CruiserBruce Posted October 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2022 If you look on the West Coast board, you will see it discussed quite frequently, getting rave reviews. By the way, Luggage Direct is a private company that provides this service, charging a fee, in a couple of ports, Seattle not being one. Seattle's service is provided by the port of Seattle for free. Mum2Mercury Posted October 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2022 I looked into that once -- it was more than I was willing to pay.

But at Seattle, it is free! @Papa-n-Oma cruisers, the program is called Port Valet. Here is the website for the program: https://www.portseattle.org/page/port-valet-enjoy-seattle-luggage-free Here is the West Coast Departures board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/315-west-coast-departures/
rkacruiser Posted October 15, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2022 I have used Luggage Direct when I have sailed on HAL and it does work as advertised. Saves hassle at the airport from where one departs.
azalice Posted October 23, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 23, 2022 We just used Luggage Free from Arizona to Amsterdam port for our cruise. It worked well. However, our luggage was to be picked up at the cruiseport at the end of the cruise in Bordeaux France - but no one was there to pick it up. We had to take it ourselves to Paris and we had to rearrange for pickup for our Paris hotel. It did arrive at our home very quickly. So, perhaps pickup at cruise ports that are smaller might not work well. I would not do it again unless it is to be shipped to major cities. Cruisercl Posted October 27, 2022 #8 Share Posted October 27, 2022 Just got off HAL NS coastal cruise; disembarked in NYC. Luggage Direct worked like a charm, no issues. Cost was $25, well worth the cost, IMO. 😊 1
