drsmith Posted November 25, 2022 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2022 This is my first cruise on MSC, so I looked at a few videos online to get an idea of what a solo studio cabin looks like. I'm not seeing any regular electrical outlets. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of what type of outlets are in this type of room? I wonder where I can plug my hair dryer in. Also, how many USB outlets are available for charging cameras and phones, etc? Also, is there a clock in the room?
Rare Georgia_Peaches Posted November 25, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2022 No clock in our room. There was a USB port, regular outlet and European outlet on the desk area. No outlets by the bed. I brought a regular, 2 prong extension cord to plug my phone into for charging and kept it on the night stand for my clock.
kelleherdl Posted November 25, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2022 All MSC ships have both NA, EU, and UK outlets on the vanity desk. Newer ships also have USB charger ports at places around the room. The best solution is to buy a universal adapter plug which also has USB ports. You can thus use whichever outlet your items don’t use to plug in the universal adapter. Amazon has multiple adapters. Cyber Monday is your friend. I also take a three outlet multi plug to use in one of the NA outlets. you will already have a hair dryer in your vanity drawer.

Regarding the stateroom hair dryer, I find it too cumbersome due to the fact you have to hold in the button when using...

My experience on MSC ships has been there being two 110-120v NA outlets and two 2220-40 EU two-prong outlets. If using the universal adapter, you are fine for usb usage, but make sure any things you plug into the outlet is a dual voltage device. For safety's sake, we bring a voltage converter with adapter plugs.
2flacruisers Posted January 6, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2023 I am also looking at purchasing a converter to use as a 3rd option...we have 2 cell phones, and husband has rechargeable hearing aids he plugs in each night...are MSC's plugs 2 or 3 pronged? Note, European and UK receptacles will be 240v, NA receptacles are 120v, and universal adapter plugs don’t change the voltage! It’s easier to take a basic power bar, rather than a big heavy voltage converter. A power bar without overload or surge protection. No switches or buttons.
