atlast95 Posted December 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2022 Last week we went to the Marriott Hotel and Casino, Frigate Bay for the day. The cab from the cruise port was $20 (for up to 5 people). We had not reserved in advance and paid $49 per person at the Front Desk to receive wrist bands. Make sure you bring towels from the ship as they are not provided. You need to ask for the 10% discount on food & bev when you place your orders, as the servers didn't automatically give it to us. The beach cabanas provided the shade we need and the pool chairs have individual canopies. If you are not interested in lying on the beach or beside the pool, then you could just order food and/or beverages at the outdoor bar and restaurant area and forgo the day pass. The beach is public and we were politely approached by two vendors, as well as the ladies who have massage tables set up in the cabana area. We had a shrimp appetizer and 3 beers between us, and with the round trip taxi and day passes it worked out to close to $200 for the two of us, which I think is fairly pricey. 1

Outta My Work Clothes Posted January 4, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2023 We have been to the Marriott two different times and Yes... price has gone up and is now very pricy. Food is quite expensive as well as are drinks. Checking out other choices for our Feb visit.
CarolRoy Posted January 4, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2023 I believe this in on the Atlantic Ocean side which can be rough. How did you find the ocean, surf?
Outta My Work Clothes Posted January 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 6, 2023 It definitely is "Ocean Waves', we come from East Coast (LI and Jerzey Shore) so are use to these waves... but far from tranquil Caribbean... beach setting is perfect with plenty of scattered shade "huts' to keep you out of sun. Main reason not going back is raise in price at an Already pricy place, and a change is Always good!

TTE Protocol is to rock up, flash cash, don’t tell them one is from Carnival (lie), take lift, press down, set up a bar tab, enjoy. Thank you for reporting back the pricing. I was trying to figure out how much a cab was and estimate the food and drink costs. By my calculation, you paid $62 for your shrimp appetizer and three beers. I think I have to increase my food/drink budget.

T'erds is a word constructed by my Bajan friends, being a combination of two words Towels and Herds. The T from Towels and 'erds from Herds to describe some tourists. TOWELS: Arrive by the cheapest means; deliberately take the most annoying spot on the beach to spoil a view of paying clients; spread the ship's Towles; constantly repeat the mantra "beaches are free" like a demented parrot; do not spend anything at the resort; bring food and drink browsed from the ship's buffet, all wrapped in a ship's napkin; bury their picnic debris in the sand; use the sea, beach and all the venue's facilities for free; if there is charge for toilets, decline and use the sea; return to the ship by the cheapest means. Then when back in the Ship boast they spent the day at Carambola (Kim Sha et al) taking lunch and drinks there. HERDS: Arrive loudly en masse; stay loudly; have shouting conversations on their mobiles, or with other herd members, albeit 2 feet or 20 yards way; bring coolers full of Supermarket bought beer and food, then demand ice for free; bring boom boxes and play on highest volume; sometimes pay for beds but insist a colony of friends is created; complain about the price of venue's food as the reason for buying a single slice of pizza. Seek to use Hotel or Beach facilities for free, failing that, turn the sea into a Urinal (aka going for a swim) Abuse or ridicule other guests, and members of the venue's staff, solely for the group's amusement. Basically, it's a group who knowingly do everything possible to spoil the genteel ambience of the venue, and to annoy as many people as it is physically possible. Then leave loudly en masse. Other items of annoyance can be added to each of the above definitions as required.

mickeyhereicome Posted January 25, 2023 #21 Share Posted January 25, 2023 Is it possible to use the beach without the Marriott day pass? Is the beach public or is there a public area right near there? Can you rent umbrella and chairs close by? My husband and sons would like to golf at the Marriott and my parents and I would enjoy the beach. Trying to figure out the best way for the day. Therefore, the fee has to be paid for the use of their private facilities, which includes beds, pool, toilets security etc. The nearest public renters are along Frigate Bay, known as the strip. 2 beds and 1 umbrella = US$30.00 per set - Additional units (bed or umbrella) to make a combination is usually about $10 each Edited January 25, 2023 by PORT ROYAL Price
PORT ROYAL Posted January 25, 2023 #23 Share Posted January 25, 2023 (edited) Method suggestion. Out: Minivan Taxi to Frigate; drop non-golfers; golfers to Marriott. Return: Minivan Taxi from Marriott; collect from Frigate; back to ship. Additional. The fee at the Marriott attracts discounts on food etc. Edited January 25, 2023 by PORT ROYAL Additional
