princess prizes

It is a perk of having/paying for the top tier package, it is also available for paying $20 per day (all remaining days on your cruise).

Kind of like paying extra for draw tickets for an end of cruise raffle.  Each time you scan your medallion on your door, it randomly provides either an instant win, a virtual ticket to the end of cruise draw, or try again.  I always saw "please try again", and the darling wife saw several end of draw entries.

Your chances of winning something are somewhat good, as you are really only competing with the other passengers, that paid for it, on the ship.  Prizes are $25, $50, OBC, $100 and then the grand prize per sailing of $5000.

We had the Premium on our last cruise (had way to much FCC after covid) and we (darling wife) won the grand prize and those winnings are funding for a 16night Hawaii cruise.   Would I pay Premium for any of my next cruises, absolutely not, just not enough benefit to pay the extra $$$ per day,

Yes this is part of the premier package or you can sign up for it at $20 per day at your cabin

Just be aware that you can't sign up for just one day. If you sign up for $20 a day you will be charged for all remaining days of the cruise.

So each time you scan your door you get an additional entry?  What stops someone from just sitting outside their cabin and scanning the medallion over and over?

It only scans once every 15 minutes or so... But nothing is stopping you from scanning again, and again, and again..   The only restriction is the Casino has to be open and operating.

Pretty sure I saw a guy in a cabin near ours doing exactly this. He seemed to spend a lot of time looking at the screen outside his door and he was there many times when we went past. Sounds really boring to me.

I think I would much rather hang out with a glass of wine a good book and view of the ocean

Trust me. We did that daily. We have a cruise booked on Discovery Princess next year and we're majorly bummed that there is no Vines on the ship.

The $20/day difference (per person) between the Plus and Premier categories does give you this Princess Prizes (which I agree isn't worth that much).   Premier however also gives you and upgrade to the $20 glass wines, 2 Specialty dinners a piece, and increases your wi-fi device limit.   Small value added items are: reserves seats for production shows, free photos, and a medallion accessory. I wouldn't mind trying the better wines, so might get the Premier on the next cruise.
