I know I have a lot more days at sea, seen so many more ports, had more adventures, than I ever would have had otherwise, by booking inside cabins, and sometimes doing a guaranteed share. I would never have been able to travel as much of the world as I have if I had booked outside, balcony, or suite level cabins. There's only so much money to go around, and my priority has been lesser cabins for more days in them. Life is a series of trade-offs. I can't speak for others, but it was the right choice for me. 9

OlsSalt Posted February 16, 2023 #54 Share Posted February 16, 2023 When traveling solo and having to pay often double, taking an inside cabin is not "cheap, cheap, cheap". Per capita with one person paying double, it is probably very similar to the per-capita cost for one member of a two person Neptune. (Haven't done the math on this one) Agree 100% with Ruth, if this is they way one gets to travel more for the same amount of money, there is no better trade-off. Particularly on the older ships where one finds serene public areas to enjoy the daytime hours. At night, does it even matter if one even has a cabin window? Except it is easier to sleep when traveling in the lands of the midnight suns. In realistic terms, for me it was just those few moments of daybreak that were most sorely missed when sailing in an inside cabin. So that is a pretty high price to pay for a window/verandah. I would invest in a daytime, light brightening clock, should I ever use an inside cabin again. 2

I agree Ruth, that was us. The only time we were in our cabin was to change or sleep. On sea days we found a deck chair on the Promenade or around the pool. It gave us a chance for longer cruises and more of them.

NCTribeFan Posted February 16, 2023 #57 Share Posted February 16, 2023 I've sailed nearly 40 times on Carnival, almost always in inside cabins. I did this because when I started cruising in 2001, I was sailing with my teenage daughter and the size of their interiors was consistently larger, and the fares less, than on other lines. I just did 32 nights on Carnival Pride last fall, and another 14 nights as couple of weeks ago on her sister, Carnival Spirit. Nice, large interior cabins. I'm "lucky" enough to get casino discounts, even off my "regular" fares on HAL, which Carnival rarely gives me. It's usually in the 30%-off range, which lowers the price enough that I'm booking more and more. Now that I'm semi-retired and have more time to sail, the longer itineraries very much appeal to me. If I don't book a balcony, I prefer an interior. Love it nice and dark while sleeping. I'm often up early enough during the winter that I'm up on Lido when the sun comes up anyway.

Maybe they got in trouble and were sued over deceptive advertising practices. I wish HAL did this.

That's me exactly and I'm proud of it. I have hundreds of days underwater in a submarine so an inside cabin is no big deal to me. I'd rather cruise more than spend money on a cabin I'm not in most of the time. 3 1
