mcrcruiser Posted February 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) We like to play Craps & Slots . We know to give the dealer our sign & sail card on the crap table & to place it in the slot machines ;but ,how for they determine who gets free state room offers ? Is it based on amount of dollars spent or is it based on consistency in the casino ,like playing daily ? DaveOKC Posted February 20, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2023 While no one knows for certain how it works, I am fairly certain that it is like most land based casinos which dole out their perks based on the dollar amount of "play" you give them and of course what type of gambling you are doing (slots earn more "credits" than most table games due to the higher expected value that slots have for the casino). Another factor on getting free cabins is how well the cruise is booking out.

jenp123 Posted February 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2023 No one really knows. I gambled on a few cruises almost 10 yrs ago. Not crazy, but maybe lost $1000 over the course of 2 yrs. I stopped going to the casino and have been getting offers for free cruises and discounts ever since. I have done 2 free cruises (Alaska and 10 day carribean) and multiple 30% off deals .(Approx) I haven't been in the casino since so I figured the offers would stop coming once they saw that the freebies are not enticing me to gamble...but I am happy to still be saving $$

We have never walked into the casino other than to pass through to another area. So, go figure. We did take the offer, however, upgrading to a balcony. KAKcruiser Posted February 20, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2023 Are you sure it was a casino offer? HAL is sending out offers that look very similar and nobody knows what you have to do to get on that list but speculation is spa or high spending. mcrcruiser Posted February 20, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted February 20, 2023 For sure No cruise line gives away any thing especially good cabins unless they feel they will make more money this way
Rare Banditswife Posted February 20, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2023 Right after the restart we got an offer for a free inside- a 21 day through the Panama Canal. We had only been on 1 Holland Am cruise previously & it was 2016 or 17, so at least 4 yrs prior. I have no clue as to why we got that offer, but it was an awesome cruise. We've been getting frequent offers ever since. They are usually for OV cabins & only 7 days long. We do gamble, but not a huge amount- $400 to $500 over the course of the 7days. HAL told me that it was a casino offer and that the $200/pp is provided with the hope that it will be spent in the casino. The offer only applied to about 12 cruises, but several were in the Caribbean and a few were to and from New Zealand. Our TA says that no one knows why certain HAL cruisers are picked. It seems that any speculation is a waste of time.

We would have snapped at going to New Zealand on a free cruise & gladly upgrade to a balcony Seems to me there is no specific criteria for HAL Casino awards; which is strange. We are Blue Chip members with Celebrity & recently got blessed with both discounted cruises & free tips , free drink pkg & free wifi on both cruises . That alone save us a lot . Albeit they are Mexican Riviera cruises but why look a gift horse in the mouth
