Howdy @Karen.mcsweeney143 Welcome to the Cruise Critic message boards and thank you for your first new topic on the Cruise Blogs & Websites forum! However, it is off topic there since the forum is for our members to post their personal travelogue-type of cruise-related blogs or websites. To help you out, your thread has been moved to the Spain Ports forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have been to Barcelona frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. Cruise Critic is a great resource for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are so glad you are posting on the boards! Please feel free to browse the Cruise Critic Community Categories list. Read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in a forum. You will find very important instructions or information there. Please remember the following stated in the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: Browse Before You Post Browse a topic first to see if your question has already been asked or answered by someone else. Also, many of the major cruise lines forums have a FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) topic that has been created by our members. Give that a try first. Browsing is your #1 best resource! Please post your messages in an appropriate topic so that you'll receive the best possible response. It is very time consuming to move misplaced messages that are in the wrong topics. Anytime you need to start a new thread/topic on a forum, first make sure you are in the correct forum for your topic. Word your new thread title in a way to help the members know exactly the information you seek. This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information, they will reply to you. Also, it is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic such as one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. Be sure to mention your cruise line, ship, port or sail date in your message as that sort of information may help your fellow Cruise Critic members help you better. The specific Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your line, ship and sail date will be the place for you to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you before your cruise. Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, there may be excursion or transportation share requests to save money posted in your Roll Call thread. To explain our Roll Call threads and finding the Roll Call thread for your line, ship and sail date, please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For even more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines. We also have the following Cruise Critic article you might enjoy: 8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call And don't forget, after your cruise be sure to submit your review for publication by Cruise Critic. Many cruisers will benefit from your experience! See How To: Submit a Member Review. So sorry this is so long, but I sincerely hope all this additional information will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are so glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat
IWantToLiveOverTheSea Posted March 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2023 I haven't stayed here yet, but I've booked Hotel Granvia. And I looked at Casa Mathilda and Hotel Jazz.

Barcelona is one of my favorite places to visit, I have been three times. Where to stay: - Las Ramblas street - Gothic quarter - Both of these spots are central and have beautiful architecture. Places to see: - la sagrada familia - park guell - Boqueria Market - Els Bunkers del Carmel Additionally I recommend taking a cooking class while in Barcelona. It is a great way to learn the Spanish culture. I took one at Barcelona Cooking School on Las Ramblas street and it was amazing we got our ingredients from Boqueria Market (this is one of the places I suggested). And they taught us how to make traditional Spanish dishes like Paella!!!
Thejuggler Posted July 2 #5 Share Posted July 2 Unless you are a night owl and want to be up and about as late as all the other revellers avoid a hotel on or just of La Rambla. There are narrow streets in the area and all the sound travels upwards. L'eixample is the area just north of La Rambla, full of expensive shops, lots of bars and restaurants, walking distance of La Rambla and a great area to stay in. Mimiya11 Posted July 9 #6 Share Posted July 9 We loved our stay at the Iberostar Selection Paseo de Gracia. Great hotel, customer service, location and breakfast! Walking distance to La Rambla, across the street from a really nice department store with a great lower level for groceries, snacks and last minute items for the ship. It is also one half a block from one of the HOHO Bus which we took after we went to the Sagrada Familia to get us to Park Guell and wander. Plus tons of stores and restaurants. Rare Hlitner Posted July 10 #7 Share Posted July 10 Lots of hotel options. Our own favorite is an older European-style hotel called the Hotel Colon. It is in the heart of the Gothic Quarter (across the street from the Cathedral) within easy walking distance of the Ramblas, metro, etc. Hank
Rare texasstar Posted July 10 #8 Share Posted July 10 Another vote for Hotel Colon. Just make sure you ask for a room on the quiet side. Our original room had a cathedral view and it was very noisy. I requested to be moved to a quiter room, which they accommodated me, and it was very nice.

There is actually a "pinned" thread at the very top of this Spain and Portugal Ports forum which is dedicated to the FAQs concerning Barcelona hotels and you might want to give that a try should none of the suggestions already given on this thread meet your requirements. This one .https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2902493-barcelona-hotels/page/11/#comment-66553826 And the historic areas of Barcelona are best explored on foot as there are traffic restrictions. Many visitors will use a combination of walking, public transport (very good), the HOHOS, and taxis, (of which there are many). to get to and from or to get between their chosen sights/attractions, the ones which best suit your personal interests. Remember to check which sights require advance timed booked entry, the main one of course being la Sagrada Familia.
