Sigyn Posted February 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2023 I'm trying to pick a cruise for spring break for myself and my 15-year-old son. Looking at all different cruise lines. There are two MSC cruises to consider. One on the Seascape and one on the Meraviglia. Has anyone taken their teenager on either of these ships and, if so, what was it like for them? Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted February 22, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2023 I'd pick Seascape since it's newer, but you also should consider the itinerary, price, etc. We picked Seascape to go as a family with our 12 yo and all the grandparents. I hope we like it.
REOVA Posted February 23, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2023 Depends on what we likes to do. If he likes arcade gaming, virtual reality, etc you may want to look into buying a package as the extra costs for these may add up. Suggest having a TA assist you as well and get OBC. KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted February 23, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2023 If it's a spring break cruise, it will be loaded with other teens in his age group. MSC has impressive teen clubs including a late nite disco. If he likes to socialize, I'm sure he'll enjoy either ship.
Spurschick Posted February 23, 2023 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2023 Depends on their interests as Meraviglia has a lot of options for teens. It has a great outdoor course (not sure the exact name) plus indoor sports court. Seascape is good but doesn’t have the indoor sports court. Either would be fine. Out dd did her first MSC at 18 and loved it.
Rare LiquidWu Posted February 23, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2023 (edited) I would make the decision dependent on the weather in the target area. The Meraviglia is a beautiful, but rather traditionally divided cruise ship, on which your son would certainly have a lot of fun. But the Seascape was specially developed for travel in sunny climes. There's a lot more space on the open deck, outdoor sports, more tables outside the restaurants, and a more spacious pool area. There is simply more fun outside in good weather. Tierun Posted February 23, 2023 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2023 Both ships are great. Older ships, not so much. The ships you’re looking at have Wi-Fi, and nice teen club areas. MSC is very lax about letting young people in the supposed adult only spaces. Many teens have been seen in the nightclubs and late parties.
Nikita4 Posted February 23, 2023 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2023 My teens (13 und 15) like MSC and her product. We cruise twice oder more a year with them. The teens-club is cool and all clubs a venues with parties also. The often are until 1-2 am with other teens on the ship. The Sportplex on Meraviglia, Grandiosa is there favorite place to be. You need to accept this.

Other than the gym and Spa (where minors can go with an adult at certain T&C), the adult disco from 11PM onward and the Casino at operational hours, minors can to stay pretty much all over the ship at any time. As the other members have said; it is pretty much common for minors to stay with their families elsewhere once on holidays. MSC bars and lounges are to be seen primarily as socializing places, with adult drinks as a extra bonus, not the whole experience. You can stay long hours on them without drinking anything else. This is what I do most of the days, with the odd non alcoholic drink here and there once for health reasons I can't drink alcohol. Have a nice day.
