anjo Posted April 5, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2023 Hi everyone, Recently read a review about Oceanview Cabin F502 on Coral. Was very impressed, looked lovely, beautiful picture window. Was keen to book one, was informed by TA that these cabins on Deck 6 midship were 100% obstructed views. How does that work? Anyone stayed in these cabins? Please help. Confused. Anjo. Aus Traveller Posted April 5, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2023 I haven't been in that cabin, but from what I can see, F502 would have a 100% obstructed view. You would get daylight so it would be better than an interior cabin.
Rare Ozwoody Posted April 5, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 5, 2023 Unfortunately Aus Traveller is right better than an Inside, but not much of a view. See F502 circled below.
Rare Yaya_in_Oz Posted April 5, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) I think the circled cabin is on Deck 8 above the Promenade Deck, F deck is below it, no obvious obstructions but closer to the water. Your right, thinking of the Sea Princess where the casino is on the deck above the Promenade deck. Sorry anjo it looks like it does have a view. Rare arxcards Posted April 5, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 5, 2023 I think there is a crossed wire with the agent. The cabins on deck 8 are obstructed (E502) The cabins beside the casino are not obstructed (F502)
LC1950 Posted April 5, 2023 #7 Share Posted April 5, 2023 This might help to explain the Casino Cabins. I believe this couple are currently on the round Oz cruise.
anjo Posted April 5, 2023 Author #8 Share Posted April 5, 2023 Thankyou LC1950 This is the review I read and the reason I couldn't understand the TA saying it was a 100% obstructed view.

Aus Traveller Posted April 5, 2023 #10 Share Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) A couple of websites I looked at stated that F502 has a fully-obstructed view, however, more detailed sites with deck plans of the Coral, clearly show that it is NOT obstructed. F502 is an OB category, definitely not obstructed. The obstructed view cabins (OW) are definitely on deck 8 behind the lifeboats. There are as couple of sites that show this plan and indicate which cabins are obstructed view. They show they are on Emerald deck 8. I am confident that F502 is NOT obstructed. https://www.dccruising.com.au/pdf/deckplan_co.pdf Edited April 5, 2023 by Aus Traveller

The video made these oversized windows appear to be something unique, but there are better ones out there. As an example, Rhapsody of the Seas 1M cabins have floor to ceiling windows, as those cabins were retrofitted around the outside of the glassed atrium. Great cabins, but the "ship of light" atriums suffered from the need for extra revenue.

Always hated cricking my neck to see out of an OV.
