Afternoon Tea????

Is there afternoon tea (High Tea) served in any venue on board?

Some comments suggest they serve something in the Arts Cafe and in the Panorama Lounge, but there is no mention of it in any of the marketing materials or videos or in the Daily Chronicles I have seen.

No - at least there wasn’t when we were on Silver Muse recently

There are sandwiches and cakes available in Arts Cafe but nothing like the special tea service offered on Regent or old Crystal

We always thought it would have been nice to have had a tea service in Dolce Vita - even if only occasionally

Apparently they did offer a proper afternoon tea at one time (not to be mistaken for a high tea - an often misused expression for evening grub, not finger food, served at a counter or high table as you'd find in some bars), and it is often mentioned positively in 3rd party articles.  Of course, many of these articles don't bear any date at all, so who knows how old the info is.  Something akin to what you see below has appeared in a number of places I've read.  Have seen it mentioned in individual cruise reviews, even on the Silver Explorer, as recently as 2019.  Sorry to hear it may no longer be the case.  Fills in the gap between a late breakfast and a later dinner.

Silversea

The best thing about teatime on this luxury line?  You can order a full tea service right to your suite. Or, if you prefer a more traditional social hour, there’s a daily teatime with live piano music and the usual tiered tray of treats. The line offers 12 teas to choose from, including greens, blacks, oolongs, and whites from the Frankfurt-based tea company Ronnefeldt.

The Details: The complimentary teatime takes place at 4 p.m. in Panorama Lounge on most ships.

Unfortunately SS have never quite embraced the custom of afternoon tea. A few dessicated sandwiches may be aquired at the Arts cafe followed by some extremely good cakes but unfortunately an afternoon tea as embraced by Crystal in the Palm Court isn't an option. The crew don't even have an inkling of what it is. We spent a very confusing couple of hours being directed from one venue to the next when we asked where Afternoon tea was being served and having to explain repeatedly what we meant.

It’s only a more casual type afternoon tea served in the Arts Cafe, not a true afternoon tea with the tiered platters that used to be served pre-Covid.  I love a proper afternoon tea but can’t say I enjoyed the silly costumed affair on Crystal ships.

Hmmm, on our most recent Silversea cruise three months ago — an expedition cruise on Silver Cloud — there absolutely was afternoon tea service every afternoon. Tea, sandwiches, pastries, live acoustic music  by the piano player or guitar player — we enjoyed it a number of afternoons. It was in Panorama Lounge.

Seabourn also does a nice daily afternoon tea.

Silversea still does classic afternoon tea on the Cloud and Wind. Not sure about the other smaller ships. But not on the Muse class ships. There, as others have said, you can get tea, sandwiches and pastries all afternoon in the Arts Cafe, but it's not the same.

We sailed on the Whisper last June. There were sandwiches (mediocre) excellent scones, two types, clotted cream and cakes. They were served properly on a stacked plate thing and real tea-leaf tea if that was your beverage of choice. Every day. This was served in the Panorama Lounge for the view and very relaxing atmosphere.

Perhaps the big ships have lost the plot!
