Are ship casinos now allowed to be open (before 9pm) while in port?

Ty

The law was changed to allow it if the cruise line made application to do so. I have the feeling that cruise lines haven't bothered to because it wouldn't be worthwhile to staff the casinos at times of the day when few are interested in playing. Perhaps some have just slots available, but I'm not certain.

While in port the casinos are open after 9 PM(approx.) during an overnight stay.  At least that was what it has been for several years.

Again, the law was changed to permit 24 hour operation if the cruise line applied for and was granted a permit to do so by the government .

I doubt any of the cruise lines have actually gotten the permit for extended hours as it wouldn't make a lot of economic sense to do so.

There will supposedly be the island's first land based casino at the St Regis resort near St George's-- the license was granted in October and as a few months ago, published in the Royal Gazette it is still (sort of) on track. There was also one in the plans for the Hamilton Princess but that looks to be not happening at the moment.

The casino at St. Regis is definitely not on track based on the latest press reports. The St. Regis's owners and their casino executives have been silent since their last meeting with the government three months ago, which produced nothing more than a photo op.

While the project hasn't formally been shelved the way the Hamilton Princess's casino was it's very clear that no casino operator or bank will do business with a Bermuda-based casino because of the lack of a truly independent casino regulatory body. The current regulatory structure leaves too much control in the hands of the Premier, which leaves the casino regulatory body subject to political manipulation and corruption.
