Holiday season prices

I am amazed at how much Celebrity mark up prices for Xmas/New Year cruises. Not only are the cabin costs  much higher, they also greatly inflate the services.

We are on Celebrity Edge out of Sydney to NZ and return over Christmas 2023 and was looking at the spa services prices. A 75 minute deep tissue muscle massage on our cruise is $296.26 AUD, while for the cruises on either side of ours on the same ship the same massage is $166.99 AUD, hope they don't expect us to leave a tip after that mark up! 😞

Specialty restaurants are more expensive, too—especially on Christmas Eve and NYE although for those two holidays it usually includes a special menu.

Why are you surprised? 
Every place increases prices at Christmas 

Also spa is why over priced compare to services on land

Take a look at hotel prices in Sydney over the holidays.  Rental cars, too.

There are fools that will spend that 

wait until on the ship and book 

We were offered 50% restaurants on our TA , had to pass it up as it was someone birthday and we had plans already

I have no experience of other cruise lines over the holiday period so I cannot say. 😉

They not only expect it, they'll automatically add it to the bill.

I am aware of the auto gratuity, it was the expectation of another one on top of that which I was referring to 😉

The gratuity is the tip. 🤷 

 

People can expect something and not get it. Just don't leave a double tip.

Supply and demand - want versus a need - nobody is forcing you to book and pay for a massage.
