West Coast Gal Posted May 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2023 So the Island Princess has no cruises or charters scheduled for June of 2024. Speculation could be a refurb or a sale of the Island. Does anyone have any good intel?
Rare LACruiser88 Posted May 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2023 There are lots of cruises available after June so a sale is not likely. Most probable would be an extended dry dock or a charter.
AtlantaCruiser72 Posted May 18, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2023 She has an eastbound Panama Canal sailing ending in Ft Lauderdale on May 24th 2024. Her next scheduled cruise is from NYC on an eastbound transatlantic on July 9th. She has a full summer/fall Europe season followed by a brief stay in the Caribbean before her World cruise in January 2025. A +/- 45 day schedule gap makes me think she will be getting a lengthy trip to the drydock. Normal drydocks are 10-14 days.
Rare cr8tiv1 Posted May 18, 2023 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2023 They are going to remodel her back to pre-added aft cabins (sarcasm aka Sheldon Cooper). One can only wish. At least maybe an International Cafe? 2 1

Sadly I don’t think that will happen

Colonial Heritage – Island Princess – 10/11 days: Roundtrip from New York visiting Charleston, Boston, Halifax, Newport (on select cruises) and Yorktown. Cruises depart June 4; June 14; June 25, 2024. Darn she really is in such sad shape and needs her face lift before 2024

Oh CreativeOne, they'd better NOT because we've booked an aft cabin for the 2025WC 😉 So sad to hear that she actually does have sailings in June '24, because I was really hoping for some kind of refurbishment before we board... We know it desparately needs to be done. I have heard from people on the current world cruise there is problems with cold showers, etc. Hopefully between your cabin and ours there will be hot water. ha ha.
kickoff Posted July 3 #15 Share Posted July 3 (edited) Update as of today…the Island Princess doesn’t have any itineraries booked after its return May 6th 2026 from the 54 Day LA to LA New Zealand, Australia cruise which we are on. The cruise after us had been cancelled due to deployment issues. Edited July 3 by kickoff

The cruise after us had been cancelled due to deployment issues. We're booked on that 54 day cruise. I hope they're not selling or transferring Island Princess after this cruise. We were on the last cruise of the Ocean Princess before it was sold. All 64 days of that cruise there was evidence of the sale. Craftsman were on board taking measurements, the shops weren't fully stocked and toward the end, probably for the last two weeks, the shops closed to inventory and pack up the merchandise for transfer to other Princess ships. Evidently there's lots of customs paperwork they had to do. It was a real downer atmosphere. We did get to keep the bathrobes though!
Rare LACruiser88 Posted July 3 #17 Share Posted July 3 @beg3yrs We are also booked on the 54 day voyage. It will be interesting to see what will happen with the Island? 🤷♂️
Rare sunviking90 Posted July 3 #18 Share Posted July 3 We are also booked on this cruise. If it is a sale scenario, then I would cancel. Too depressing. However, Alaska for 2026 and spring coastal repositioning are not showing yet for any ships except Discovery Princess. Island is likely heading to Alaska.
kickoff Posted July 3 #19 Share Posted July 3 I know it’s a long way away but if you folks hear anything, or see that the Island has itineraries past May 6 2026 available please post back on here. I will cancel too if we were the last cruise.Thank you
Kay S Posted July 3 #20 Share Posted July 3 The way Princess has been shedding ships since covid, I will not be surprised to hear the Island is on the chopping block (if it is.)
