First back-to-back cruise questions

Hi, everyone. We are regular HAL cruisers but leaving this week on our first back-to-back booking on the same ship. Does anyone know how that works? We did not get the same room assignment. Can we leave our luggage on the ship? Are we allowed to disembark? Are we required to disembark? Do cruisers treat the dis/embarkation port as a port day and spend most of the day ashore, or do you need to board early as in a typical embarkation? We will be on the Zaandam in Montreal. Thanks for any advice and expert knowledge!

Your cabin attendants will help you move...you don't have to take it ashore.

Haven't done a turnaround day in Canada, but you will be able to disembark, to tour, etc.

You will receive written instructions on what you need to do.

You will have the option of getting off just to clear customs then get right back on or spending time in port, returning at your leisure (just be mindful of All Aboard).

If you decide to spend time in port, be sure you get your new key card early in the morning (I get mine before breakfast) and take it along with your In Transit card and passport.

You will be given instructions on where to meet for Turnaround Day - please be sure no matter what you decide to do in regards to time in port, that you show up on time for that meeting. They can't do anything w/B2B passengers until they've accounted for all In Transit passengers. Every time it seems there's a manhunt for stragglers. 🙂

We did a B2B in Montreal last fall. We didn’t have to meet anywhere on the ship that morning and we weren’t required to disembark.  HAL gave us a good instruction sheet in our room with detailed info on what to do.   Luggage stayed in the room.   We left the ship that morning as other passengers were disembarking and walked around town for the day.   We were given “In Transit” cards that we showed to the people in charge of getting new passengers onboard when we were ready to reboard the ship and we skipped the checkin lines, but not the security check line.    It was seamless and easy for us.

I've only had one B2B experience. It was in Vancouver and was extremely disorganized with next to no information.  The passengers knew more about the process than the staff on the ship and in Canada Place.

Locations can be different. In the US, zeroing the ship and meeting with Immigration folk is required. Outside the US, typically there are no requirements, but occasionally someone reports a different experience. Hadn't heard about any B2B experiences in Canada, so wasn't sure where they fall.
