WetPenguin Posted May 30, 2023 #1 Share Posted May 30, 2023 We have the bering sea crab fishermen's tour 🦀 in Ketchikan on Friday 6/2 with a 70% chance of rain. 🌧️ Wondering if should cancel since still have time? Anyone have experience going on the tour in the rain still enjoyable? TIA!
SightCRR Posted May 30, 2023 #2 Share Posted May 30, 2023 I would say don't cancel. Wear some water proof (not water resistant) rain gear and try to get there as soon as you can to get seat under cover. We sat on top deck during the pouring rain and enjoyed it but we are from Seattle area and wouldn't do anything if we canceled because of rain. Take precautions on camera gear and get practice on the camera sports settings for when they feed the eagles. Sit towards front or up top if not raining. 30% chance of sun seems pretty good and likely wrong. sightcrr.
AKStafford Posted May 30, 2023 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2023 Any weather forecast for Alaska more than 36 hours out is just a guess. The key to Alaska weather: Hope for the best, be prepared for the worse and have fun no matter what!

Ashland Posted May 30, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 30, 2023 We did it in September 2022 and it was raining...no problem it just added to the excitement of this tour. They of course have very big warm weather proof jackets they offer you. Go and enjoy !!!

wolfie11 Posted May 31, 2023 #7 Share Posted May 31, 2023 If things shut down in SE Alaska when it rained, nothing would ever get done 😄
