kenexx Posted June 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2023 Have just booked for Feb next year on Majestic Princess which calls at Noumea. Princess advice you must have insurance that covers medical expenses and repatriation as well as Covid 19 cover. Wondering if any cruisers here have any suggestions which insurance company might fit the bill if they have taken this itinerary. Many thanks for any advice. Maurice. If not, google travel insurance medical evacuation.
Rare ceeceeDee Posted June 19, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2023 CoverMore should fit the bill. It is also the company recommended on P&O cruise control and P&O visits Noumea. But as always, shop around for the best deal. Most policies in my experience cover medical evacuation, just double check on Covid cover.
Aussieflyer Posted June 19, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2023 1Cover has a line on the comprehensive plan certificate that says it meets the requirements of countries that have mandated travel insurance with medical cover for COVID 19.
valantine80 Posted June 19, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 19, 2023 We used NRMA insurance earlier in the year and they automatically provided a letter stating that we were covered for medical expenses, repatriation and Covid .
Rare aussielozzie18 Posted June 19, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 19, 2023 Used Allianz with cruise pack. Rang them closer to cruise to ask for Covid cover letter which they emailed immediately.
Rare Ozwoody Posted June 19, 2023 #7 Share Posted June 19, 2023 If you have a: Westpac; St George; or a ANZ; bank account, check with your bank re free credit card travel insurance, last time I checked they cover for covid. The ANZ one's does not have a great cancellation cover ($20,000) good for short trips, but not so good for longer cruises. The other two are Unlimited cover for cancellation. This is what we did also - we actually took out an annual policy with NRMA from Mar '23 - Mar '24 which will cover 4 cruises. I was concerned about having 'proof' of COVID cover, based on the messaging from P&O about New Caledonian requirements & reports of people being denied boarding in Sydney early in the 22-23 season. There were reports of people in the terminal trying to arrange cover to be able to board. As you say, NRMA automatically provided a letter with the policy documents stating: Confirmation of International Travel Insurance with COVID-19 benefits This letter is provided to you in the event that you are required to show evidence of the COVID-19 coverage that is included in your insurance. For example, you may be travelling to a destination where the local government requires foreign visitors to have medical coverage for COVID-19 illness. We suggest that you check the requirements for the destination you are travelling to and keep a copy of this letter along with your Certificate of Insurance and Policy Wording that outlines the benefits available whilst travelling.
