Eclipse Sunset Cabins Questions

We love aft facing cabins and are thinking of booking a sunset veranda. Are the balconies deeper? Is there enough of an overhang for some shade, or would it be too sunny?  Can higher decks look down at lower decks?  Does Deck 12 get too much noise from Ocean View Bar area?  Thanks to you all who respond.

The balcony is not noticeable deeper on the S class ships.  There is 12-18” of overhang so no much shade.
Yes  higher decks can look down on you unless you are sitting right up by the balcony door.
We have never had a SV on deck 12.

we have done a number of them and have found that for some itineraries they are ideal ( Alaska, Norway) not so much when you are cruising in a very warm place and the sun is beating on you balcony door and you have to close the curtains to keep the heat out of the cabin.

Do be aware that not all SV verandas are the same size.  While they all have the same depth (door to railing), some are wider and others narrower.  I think the widest ones are 2152, 1674, 1206, 9382, 8344, 7364, and 6312 (my guess is these book up the fastest).  The ones just to the starboard side of those seem to be quite a bit narrower (subtract 2 from those room numbers to get the small ones).  Others may be some degree in between.

On our Med cruise we opted for a sunset cabin & found there was very little shade on the veranda & for most of the time we weren't able to sit outside. We were on deck 9 - so not really overlooked. The only other thing that wasn't ideal was that every day there was soot on the veranda and on the chairs.

I know a lot of people love the SV cabins but they aren't for us so will be booking a regular cabin for our next cruise.
