After 2am it takes an hour plus to get ice. So much for 24 hours. You also find your butler busing tables in top sail or somewhere else on the ship. 5 minutes is probably the longest time I have waited for anything. My opinion is that they do too much! Why do they always need to escort you to a restaurant? It's almost possible to say no to that, I have tried. The same thing with drinks to the cabin. I go to the lounge, because for me that's easier than calling the butler, but they never let me carry them back to the cabin, a butler always does that. I don't mean carry them, which I already have said, more like putting their walker in position or hold their hand if their legs are shaky. CruiseTee Posted August 10, 2023 Author #103 Share Posted August 10, 2023 Hi All! We just returned from our family (and extended family!) trip on the Meraviglia. It was a great cruise! As expected, the Butler (our 8 cabins all had the same one), was outstanding. Meri couldn't do enough for us, and was extra special to our elderly passengers. We gave her a huge tip at the end of the cruise, as well as our servers in the YC Dining Room, who were amazing as well. I just wish the shore side MSC personnel could be as amazing and efficient as their on-board crew. I hope they can achieve this moving forward because the staff on board the ships really shine! Thanks again for all your great advice and wishing you all a great rest of the summer! 10

ISABELLA Posted August 10, 2023 #106 Share Posted August 10, 2023 (edited) I was considering our first MSC - YC cruise. We only want balcony suite. Can MSC change our Balcony suite to an inside? Edited August 10, 2023 by ISABELLA

Then to top it off, you will need to purchase Internet and booze package. Personally had it happen.

I actually got an attorney, tried to escalate to CLIA which they so proudly display and it got me basically nowhere except I could cancel 3 weeks before with no penalty . Don't be lead down the garden path by the often trotted out and extremely truncated version of all the facts behind the incident. It involved a full ship charter that occurred far out from the embarcation date and MSC's offer to rebook or cancel that was refused and fought to the bitter end.

Pretty much all cruise lines have the same wording in their conditions, don't let this put you off booking though.

It occurred a few weeks prior to embarkation. I found out when I printed the luggage tags. There was no offer to rebook by MSC, the offer to rebook was made by me . Any 7 night sailing of their choice from any Florida port with 48 hours notice within the next 6 months at current price and follow the terms of CLIA which they plaster on their web pages. I lost money as my limo was non refundable as well as my insurance and I incurred attorney fees. The biggest issue was CLIA. In the event of a full ship charter I can be bumped but I get to choose another 7 night sailing and a one category upgrade which in my case would have been the Royal suite . I think I am going revive this issue again and try and push it thru CLIA or at least find our why MSC can put CLIA on their website if they don't follow it.
nferr Posted August 22, 2023 #116 Share Posted August 22, 2023 Not to say it was a good situation, but all the mainstream cruise lines do this. Cancel an already booked cruise to take on a charter. I've seen it on the NCL and Royal boards too. I guess the cruise lines have their reasons. They always offer free refunds or switch to another date. I don't agree with the practice. They were keeping me on the cruise in a regular balcony cabin not in yacht club Grand suite which I paid in full over a year prior . The attorney helped me get the refund with me being taken care of later which never has happened.

I've been on 25 cruises with the following cruise lines and it's never been done to me: Carnival, Oceania, Holland America, Cunard, Celebrity, NCL, RCCL and Regent. Not once have they ever changed my cabin when I booked a specific cabin. Ive had Holland America do this to me twice, Oceania do this to me once, and NCL do this to me twice, as well as MSC 3 times before the bid process -50 cruises here, this is common in the cruise industry Edited August 25, 2023 by UPNYGuy
