MudderBear Posted July 27, 2023 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2023 Since I can't book yet, I'm going back and forth between which ship to choose. Caribbean Princess is also on the schedule, but I ruled her out because she is just tooooooo big. The only other ship I was on was The Majestic, which I LOVED!!! Rare cr8tiv1 Posted July 27, 2023 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2023 If you love the Royal Class ships, a smaller older ship may not be your cup of tea. I’ve never heard of the Caribbean Princess doing Alaska. My choice: Coral Princess

You didn't mention if itineraries were identical. I would base it on itinerary first. Otherwise, Sapphire would be an interesting one to try out. MudderBear Posted July 27, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted July 27, 2023 Oh, I should have mentioned this would be an identical Southern Glacier tour. Same itineary for each. And I actually did this same route in 2022, and anxious to go back...with different excursions of course.
TM Posted July 27, 2023 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2023 We've cruised multiple times on both ships. I would choose the Coral only because it has more than 600 less passengers. I also love the what I call The Bayou production show (can't think of the real name) which is unique to just the Coral and Island Princess.
capriccio Posted July 28, 2023 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2023 We like them both. Most recently we completed a 28 day Round Australia cruise in April on the Coral Princess (and did Alaska on the Coral in 2007 and 2012) and pre-covid we did a 14 day Land of the Midnight Sun (Norway) cruise on the Sapphire Princess (and did a California Coastal in 2012). They both have covered pools which is great for a potentially cooler weather itinerary. I agree with @TM's 2 reasons (smaller size and On the Bayou) for choosing the Coral Princess.
