Mittens101 Posted September 29, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2023 I know this has been asked but how’s the bid acceptance going? Has anyone gotten any good deals? How quickly was your bid accepted? Any suggestions on how much you should bid beyond the suggested price?
Rare OCSC Mike Posted September 29, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2023 No one can answer these questions. No one knows the algorithm and there are way too many variables involved. Any response you get will be anecdotal. Short answer... bid what you think the upgrade is worth and don't expect to win because your chances of winning are extremely low with how full ships are right now.
PompeySailor Posted September 29, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2023 (edited) I’ll chime in with our experience 2/4 Bids successful from recollection, all 4 bids were $5 above minimum We have our 5th bid in for a Royal Suite on Grandeur ($5 above minimum) I’ll let you know how we fare The two successful bids were both Sea Class to Sky Class and we found out both times about a week before sail date to add also when ships were sailing at reduced capacity Roll the dice - make sure you blow on them and don’t get a 7 Edited September 29, 2023 by PompeySailor

meldal Posted September 29, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 29, 2023 Thanks Mittens101 for asking those questions - I am very interested in other people's insights on this topic. Are there any recent "bid winners" who could share their experiences with the bidding process and "how long before they learned their bids were accepted"? Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

transam84 Posted September 30, 2023 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2023 Oct 10 transpacific people have been doing pretty well. I bid on a sky loft, minimum a few weeks ago, my bid was accepted within a few days, I just saw someone else was successful in our roll call yesterday. I would think success is easier on cruises not sold out, especially if you are in a suite and the bigger ones are open. I would think they want to move everyone up and make some money filling lower cabins with deals as it gets closer. Just a theory that worked for me.
LilBlackDress Posted October 1, 2023 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2023 Book the room you want, bid for something better... But before bidding, check to see how much the upgrade would be. If it is not much, just upgrade if it is, you have an idea of how much to bid
Rare travelberlin Posted October 1, 2023 #11 Share Posted October 1, 2023 If your bid is accepted and you do not like the location of the new cabin, can you just keep your original cabin? Or change the new cabin to a better location in the same category?

Your previous cabin likely has been assigned to someone else. Maybe. You might be able to switch to another cabin in the exact same category IF any better ones are available…but do not count on that because frequently once RoyalUp upgrades come through, no more cabins in those categories are available, so you are locked into the cabin you are assigned.
