Brisbane: My experience at koala sanctuary

It opens at 9am. (My ship docks 8am)

Uber from pier is 60aud but if you choose share, you save 15aud if others go to either the sanctuary or city center.

Or prearrange with others from on ship.

You can buy tix at kiosk at the sanctuary.

Before going to the kangaroo exhibit, buy food (2aud) first to feed them and take pics.

So far it's GREAT!

I prebought koala holding pics weeks in advance.

I chose 1215pm but if you do 1230pm (last time slots before their 1 1/2 break), you have time to do the 10min crocodile talk at 12pm and have time to walk to the koala pic area.

(I skipped the croc talk :( )

protip:

when holding the koala, suck in your stomach.

In my pic, I look really fat because I'm leaning back a little because I'm holding the koala

Lots of koalas everywhere.

All the koalas are outside and all can be seen by the public.

There's a bunch of koalas at the outside food sitting area.

I was told there were baby koalas at the top of the hill next to the platypus building but I didn't see any. :(

We want to do this but can’t find an excursion to take us.

So you’re saying you took an Uber from the pier for $60 each way?  Did you have any trouble getting one at the sanctuary to take you back to the ship?

From your post, you bought tickets ahead of time?  Is this mandatory or can we go and get tickets that day?

Baby koalas (joeys) are usually in their mother's pouch until they are six months old and then they ride on her back until they are around a year old when they are able to live independently. They are not then classed as babies.

60aud, not usd.

No problems on coming back but the 1st time I tried, it was surge pricing at 120aud. :o

Saw an area I missed and visited that. 20 min later, it was 60aud again.

it's much better to just get with someone on your roll call to share an Uber to go there.

then when you leave, look at the people standing around the parking lot and ask if they want to share their Uber back to the ship.

save 50%

Ahh..  small koalas on mom's back is what I meant by babies.

I guess the worker thought like you.

Still had a great time there!

Glad you posted this!

Cruise Ship= $130aud each including admission, so $95 each for transportation on a large bus(which we hate)

On Own    =  $35aud each for admission, leaves $190aud for Uber!!

Already booked Koala pics for my wife. Time to cancel ship tour.

Taxis are a bit steep, so hopefully a lot of Uber's available.
