jascruise Posted October 31, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2023 Considering 17 night Greenland cruise for next year on Emerald. Among our concerns are 9 at sea days when outside temp will be in the 40s (brrr…too cold to sit outside) Review of deck plans suggests that quiet/reading areas might be hard to find. Any suggestions? Alaska05 Posted October 31, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2023 On Emerald now. Club Fusion on 18 is usually quiet during the day if there r no functions planned for there. But it is usually cold. That’s where the PES 2 hour reception is held every night.

I believe you mean Skywalkers on Deck 18. Club Fusion is on Deck 7 aft. I agree, we often use Skywalkers for reading and relaxing.
Essex Racer Posted October 31, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2023 When onboard for New England cruise in September we spent lots of time in the Adagio bar on Sun deck, most afternoons felt like our own private lounge, then in the evenings always plenty of empty seats available.
koolforkatz Posted October 31, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2023 Skywalkers! We did a 30-day South America cruise and spent a lot of lazy sea days there just reading, relaxing and taking in the scenery (and perhaps napping haha). Sometimes they do have things going on there but usually not for very long.
skynight Posted October 31, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 31, 2023 Adagio Lounge - Deck 16 aft Skywalker's - Nice views, Deck 18 aft, may be a smoking section on starboard side can't remember exactly. At times Club Fusion near the windows. This lounge is used for various activities throughout the day such as Zumba, trivia, PES lounge, bingo. Seating areas outside of Explorer's Lounge next to the windows. Outside protected, Lotus Spa Pool, Deck 16 fwd. Horizon Terrace Deck 15 aft. Wheelhouse Bar. Soft leather seating. Not used very much during daytime hours. Crooner's, deck 7 mid ship Check the daily Patter for activities in these areas.
jascruise Posted October 31, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted October 31, 2023 Thanks for these suggestions. While on Regal this summer, the only drawback was a lack of quiet space. Have also read that the condition of the ship is not wonderful. Any thoughts?
Alaska05 Posted October 31, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2023 I stand corrected. I always confuse the 2 venues. Should have looked at the deck plans first.
Alaska05 Posted October 31, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2023 I had read some of the negative comments regarding the Emerald Princess before we boarded on October 28. I think it’s in great shape. And we have sailed twice on the newer, larger ships. Our stateroom carpet looks fairly new. Shower curtain clean and white. Bed is fine (already had a topper on it). Sure there’s a nick here and there in the furniture, but who doesn’t have this in their house. I wouldn’t hesitate to sail on her again. We love this class of ship.
