LB_NJ Posted November 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2023 Have the cruise ships changed their return schedules to avoid the Tampa fog? IE, do they arrive in the wee hours in the morning?
Crown Vic Posted November 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2023 (edited) Got fog delayed earlier this year. Finally allowed to enter the Bay at 2 p.m. for the four hour sail in. The time folks got off, supplies loaded and new folks go on, the ship left in the early hours. On this occasion, very little, if anything, done to assist those waiting dock side to board. Capt_BJ Posted November 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2023 due to the length of the transit from the sea buoy to the pier they regularly begin in the wee hours .... The distance is about 35 nautical miles of restricted channels. In order to ensure they are at the pier by 6am (to begin off load at 7am) they need to begin the transit around 2am (4 hours travel time is typical as mentioned above) .... Rare Teeara Posted November 15, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2023 Is there a particular time of year when fog is more of a concern than other times? Just curious since we're leaving on April 8 next year for a Panama Canal cruise.
RedRover96 Posted November 15, 2023 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2023 We return on 12/24/23 (NCL Jade), not as concerned about leaving late on the 8th as I'm concerned about a late arrival, with flights, etc.... Our flight isn't until 2:00pm, however......
