Venezia - deck 3 gray area in middle - what is it?

its the galley for both dinning rooms, mid ship and aft. you can not walk thru. you need to go up to another deck and back down. This is common on lots of other ships

 

if you do the behind the scenes tour, you can go to galley

The Spirit class does galleys the best imho. Down on deck 1 in  the back, keeping a very nice ship traffic flow.

Just off the Carnival Venezia and the restaurant layout is less than ideal. We had Anytime Dining so either Deck 3 or Deck 4 Aft. The Aft elevators and stairways need to be used. But we would wait on our deck by the Aft elevators for our table assignment to be posted as it could be either Deck 3 or Deck 4. That saved choosing the wrong deck and having to go up or down when assigned.
