Spa Verandah?

Glad I ran across this. Goes to show you need to be ever vigilant when cruising.

We booked Nieuw Statendam Club Orange and took 10027. We like balconies in front if aft not available and I thought what the heck the VQ must be better than standard balcony. The deck plan doesn't show a smaller balcony. It sounds as if we book on 11 ie probably 11027 we would at least have a normal balcony? I am going to do some more searches but appreciate any comments/ input. Thanks.

If you zoom in on the HAL website deckplans, you might be able to see (once I tell you what you are looking for) that decks 11 and 10 have balconies 2 narrow 'boards' deep, while deck 8's are 2 wide boards deep (AKA "standard") and deck 4-forward balconies are FOUR wide boards deep. But beware, the VF cabins there have solid steel rail/ings; you would want to take a VB.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I wasn't expecting to count number of boards on balcony:classic_biggrin:

and it appears 10 and 11 deck balconies are the same and 8 was a 'normal' balcony.  I was always aware of the 'giant' balconies everyone wants but never realized these more narrow balconies existed (we have only been on Westerdam and Eurodam). Thank you again.

The VQs on the Rotterdam (and other Pinnacle ships) are quite a bit different than on N.Amsterdam, even the ones on deck 10. The balconies are deep enough that the chairs do have the slide-out leg rests, for example. Here is a nice little video:

And some pics of a VQ on the Koningsdam:

Some of the included things may have changed...

I thought the balcony on the VQ for Koningsdam were small on Deck 10. Am I mistaken?

I had a spa verandah on the NS in May. The balcony is very narrow but you can sit on it. I loved the location and used the club orange upgrade to offset the cost otherwise I would not have paid the extra price. I had a teak wood shower insert , no vitamin water and an upgraded bath robe. I really liked the location close to the thermal spa and the upper pool deck.

DO you know how the VQ balconies compare in size to conventionial V Veranda Cabins?

Nancy's embedded photos show the regular Verandah balconies are about 3 "boards" (18"?) deeper than the VQ's. The Pinnacle VQ balcony chairs do recline and include the footrest ottomans, BUT you may have to turn partly or entirely sideways to make use of those features!
