It varies (by company and plan type), but a safe rule of thumb is 14 days from initial deposit

If you are referencing the OP's original question about Carnivals Vacation Protection Insurance, their policy is secondary coverage for medical and has no waiver for pre-existing conditions for the travelers or the non-traveling family members.
