I'll check.   If Seychelles is a segment she may be getting off there.

I talked to Merge.  She says Hi and is sorry that she will miss you as she departs before the Seychelles.

Arrived Hong Kong.  Ship cleared around 9 AM.  
 

Took an Uber to Tim Hau station to meet our Secret Food tour.   https://www.secretfoodtours.com/hong-kong/

Uber was easy.  We got a 6 passenger car.   Uber leaves from 1sr floor in terminal.

A few highlights from yesterday

 

Our first stop - Sister Wah - Great beef brisket and noodles

 

We got there early - avoided massive lines after we left

Not sure I wanted to get involved with this dice game

Our final day in Hong Kong was spent visiting a dentist near the Airport.   

When we were in China, Judy bit into one of these, and it pulled off one of her crowns.

White Rabbit stores were all over China.

 

While eating lunch at our Great Wall stop, I searched for Hong Kong dentists open on Sunday. It was a pretty small list, but I found one that also used WhatsApp, and we confirmed our appointment for today at 10 AM.   This is another reason why having a cell phone and data plan can be helpful on world cruises.

 

We learned later that other guests had the same problem, and Guest Services arranged a van to go to a Hong Kong dentist on Saturday.   We made our arrangements on Sunday as we prefer to eliminate middlemen whenever possible.

 

We left the ship around 8:45 and summoned an Uber to take us the 24 miles to the Bayside Dental Clinic on Lantau Island, near the airport.    We also learned that you could take a taxi to the Star Ferry for about 100 HK dollars or $13 - which is cheaper than the shuttle bus if you have two people.  Another couple from our China Group also lost a crown, so we traveled together.   The Uber fare was $40 USD each way

 

We were here for about two hours. The cost to re-cement the crown was $1250 HKD, or about $160 USD.

 

Back on the ship we enjoyed the Sail Away

Not again!! Didn’t it happen to her last year? It happened to Peter twice on the 2023 WC. First time at sea and we had to wait several days before arriving in Papeete (fixed for $18). 2nd time, we were in the Azores (fixed for ~$60). 2nd repair is still good 😀

Yes it happened in Adelaide last year... - The price keesp going up!   Australia was around $138 - as you noted - Papeete was $18 and the Azores $60......

My dentist gave me an emergency DIY cement kit.   I haven't used it yet but always take it on cruises.

We have a kit but will only use if we can't find a dentist in our next port.

That happened to me twice. Once, I went to a dentist in Gibraltar, but it came loose soon after I got home and my dentist had to redo it. The second time was in Cape Town on the 2018 GWV. Rather than give up my only free day after an awful safari, I toughed it out until I got home.

I'm glad you saw the dentist and arranged it on your own. I think HAL would have to know where dentists are at every port because the crew would need dental care.

We were cleared around 9 am.   Not sure when they started.  I thing they came aboard before 7.  So. Maybe 2 hours?
