Rare crusin7 Posted January 15 Author #83 Share Posted January 15 We spent hours on our balcony watching the birds. They are a Hoot! Sunset We went to Compass Rose for dinner. Escargot Fred Flintstone size portion of Chicken Parmigiana. I ate it all! Delicious.
GOARMY Posted January 15 #84 Share Posted January 15 As I never tire (but, my spouse does following about 25 years' repeating same on Radisson/Regent) when opining about escargot to the waiter while ordering same on our first Compass Rose night-- that escargot will soon be "escargone". Response(s) have ranged from a blank stare and awkward silence; to a wink of recognition. In most every case, an immediate apology to Wait Steff from my long-suffering wife. Five for me; one for Sue. Only order it once (oh, maybe twice) on a cruise segment. Too rich. GOARMY!

Bruce61 Posted January 15 #86 Share Posted January 15 Crisy, I’ve seen reports that the front-facing veranda/balcony is virtually unusable when at sea. Has that been your experience?
Rare crusin7 Posted January 15 Author #87 Share Posted January 15 We had a few days where our heads almost blew off. Yesterday, because of the ship’s speed, we were able to sit out most of the day. The Panama Canal was spectacular! Alaska is also stunning from front balcony.

Rare crusin7 Posted January 15 Author #91 Share Posted January 15 We had an Adventure! 30 of us were invited to tour the Grandeur. We left at 1:10 on a LOCAL bus. It has very tall steps and was difficult for some to board. We walked through the local Mercado. We finally made it to the ship. We were greeted by Daniela, who is now the cruise consultant. We boarded and were met by Captain Ari and GM Franck. We split in 2 groups. Atrium Compass Rose Pacific Rim Cherry Tree For me the Tree and Compass Rose are the most impressive. The 1 Million Dollar Faberge Egg Okay back through the Village to get to the bus. After jamming into the very narrow bus we are on our way. We are stopped at the security gate upon entering. Luckily, we have Eddie as our cruise consultant, who is from Argentina. He gets off the bus and speaks to the authorities. Holy Mary mother of God they want us to all depart the bus and go through security. We are at this checkpoint for at least 15 minutes in the heat. It is 93° with high humidity. Eddie tells us to stay on the bus. There are a few crew members on with us that must depart. They try to make one of the guests leave the bus. He is traveling with his aunt, and he’s much younger than the average world cruiser. We are all hot and sweaty but we make it back to the ship.

Beautiful picture and I am a bit envious. We are on a different cruise line in the Pacific heading to Hawaii and it has been grey and rocking and rolling for a few days now. The good news is the weather is getting warmer from LA and we can go ashore tomorrow.
