mljatsea Posted January 6 #1 Share Posted January 6 We are interested in visiting the Royal Yacht Britannia on June 20 from South Queensbury port when on HAL Rotterdam. Don't particularly care to go to Magnificent Mile this trip which tour companies include. Would appreciate advice on transportation and feasibility from that port. Thank you. Cotswold Eagle Posted January 6 #2 Share Posted January 6 (edited) It should be very doable, probably about an hour each way. I would take either the X99 bus, the train from Dalmeny or a shuttle into Edinburgh centre and jump on the tram out to the Ocean Terminal at Leith. Alternatively, a taxi, of course. Please note the port is South Queensferry, not Queensbury. Edited January 6 by Cotswold Eagle

Rare ski ww Posted January 7 #4 Share Posted January 7 The hop on/hop off bus does a stop there. But there is more then one route so you'll have to ask to make sure you get on the correct one.
fruitmachine Posted January 7 #5 Share Posted January 7 The X99 page (https://www.lothianbuses.com/cruiselink-x99/) is still a holding one for this year, but if it's the same as last year the round-trip ticket on the X99 will get you free on any Lothian bus (or any bus run by their sister companies that run beyond the east and west of the city) and on the tram. See the NetworkDAY Ticket here: https://www.lothianbuses.com/cruiselink-x99/

As others have already pointed out, one option is to take the X99 to its final destination at South St David Street ,then walk less than 2 minutes to St Andrew Square from where you can take a tram. Don't particularly care to go to Magnificent Mile. I assume that by "Magnificent Mile" you are referring to the "Royal Mile", although I like your alternative name.😀 Edited January 7 by edinburgher

Rare Pirateskigirl Posted January 15 #11 Share Posted January 15 Here is a list of options to get to Royal Britannia from South Queensferry. https://www.rome2rio.com/s/South-Queensferry/HMY-Britannia
Rare karatemom2 Posted January 15 #12 Share Posted January 15 We visited the Royal Yacht on our Edinburgh port day and it was well worth the visit. We spent the morning at Edinburgh Castle and Royal Mile and then Ubered from there to the Yacht. After our visit we headed directly back to the port - also via Uber. It was easy and reasonable in cost - worth it in my estimation when we had limited hours to fit in all we wanted to do and going direct from point A to point B without a bunch of other stops or detours saved a lot of time.

Take the X99 (https://www.lothianbuses.com/cruiselink-x99/) from the pier to its drop-off stop in South St David Street, and then the tram (https://edinburghtrams.com/) from St Andrew Square to Ocean Terminal. Britannia is accessed through the Ocean Terminal shopping mall. If the X99 round-trip ticket is the same as last year, the tram (and all Edinburgh public buses) are included in the price.
