laurelguy Posted January 9 #1 Share Posted January 9 Hi SD lovers! Need some advice. We're splurging on the Admirals Suite on Deck 4 this April in the Caribbean. My only hesitation is this cabin 400 is very near the piano bar and casino. Since we're not late night revelers do you think we'll be bothered by the noise? Any help is appreciated. Sail on! Piaa Posted January 9 #2 Share Posted January 9 We had a friend book this suite and said never again because of the noise - sorry I have no personal experience though but we did stay in the first regular room next to it and kept sending hubby every night to ask them to keep the door closed because it was loud and I wanted to go to bed. Hope this helps
garysarah Posted January 9 #3 Share Posted January 9 Well, this makes me very nervous as we have booked it for next new years. Prior to booking I asked 2 couples about the noise who were staying there and they said they didn't hear a thing.

Piaa Posted January 9 #5 Share Posted January 9 The only thing I can say is that I guess it depends on the passengers on the ship on any given sailing - we had a very fun group that sailed when we were on deck 4 and liked to party to way past 1am (closer to 2am some nights) and they LOVED karaoke

laurelguy Posted January 22 Author #8 Share Posted January 22 Well kids we booked it and I sure hope it's not going to be a problem. We've stayed on decks 2 and 4 in the past and thought the AS would be a nice birthday splurge. Here's hoping!

Be prepared to hear a hearty rendition of “Sweet Caroline” by a group of guests every night. Don’t worry, it’s quite by midnight. It’s a very nice suite but a bit tight as I felt they had too much furniture, but that’s just me. I prefer a spacious room w less furniture. The double bathrooms are very nice. Mostly, don’t worry about the noise… just imagine you’re 25 years old again and just go with the flow. You’ll love it!
laurelguy Posted February 1 Author #11 Share Posted February 1 Thanks for the response. I can imagine being 25 again (a lovely thought) but even THEN we weren't doing Sweet Caroline except at the occasional wedding. I know there's a door or something between us and the bar. I guess we'll see. Midnight is not exactly early...
zqvol Posted April 7 #12 Share Posted April 7 We were in there, but it’s probably been 10 years. I don’t recall it being noisy

Jim Avery Posted April 12 #14 Share Posted April 12 Just a thought since the title of this thread is Admiral Suite. I would like to see some of the Commodore Suites which have a lesser component in the murphy beds when separated, made into proper Admiral Suites with a rebuilt and larger bath. I believe this would sell well. 🍸 Opinions?
TrapperZimmy Posted April 12 #15 Share Posted April 12 Just my opinion, Jim, but we've never felt the need for a larger room, even on a 16-day crossing. Yes, a larger bathroom would be nice, but the current bathroom is still nicer than walking to the backyard with a flashlight. Enlarging the bathrooms might be problematic because in the Commodores they are not back-to-back. You could do it, I suppose, if you took two adjacent Commodores, converted the second and third suites to one, and made the first and fourth into single suites. But if more Admiral Suites would get the Averys back on board, I second the motion.
Jim Avery Posted April 13 #16 Share Posted April 13 Thanks Trapper. We would love to sail with yall again. Met lots of good folks on SD. We have become used to larger baths and, for me, bigger beds. Current single Admiral suite seems to always be waitlisted. Will keep an eye out. 🍸

They might be small, but that 's fine with me since we don't need to be in one at the same time. It's especially convenient when we have both need to shower and get ready for dinner. We've had large bathrooms on other ships (Viking Ocean, explorer suite, most recently), but when you're both in there at once, it's still not ideal. On our first Sea Dream cruise on SD 1, we stopped at the Piano Bar quite a few times, after an after dinner drink at the Top of the Yacht Bar. And after one more drink, we sang along. But the singing always ended before 10. We headed back to our cabin, but most headed upstairs to the TOY bar at that point. We were on deck 4 for that trip, and didn't hear anything once we went to our cabin.
garysarah Posted May 15 #23 Share Posted May 15 I had never noticed it before but there is an industrial strength door to the suite in addition to the regular door so I think that it will be OK staying there.
laurelguy Posted May 15 Author #24 Share Posted May 15 Absolutely! And it's a life saver. You don't hear the piano bar! We really loved this cabin and it was worth the birthday splurge in April!
