O.K., I'm joining in late in the fray here, but as a former wait person;

It's ESPRESSO (with the "s" sound!)

~~~~~NOT~~~~~
EXPRESSO (Like the Dire Straits song)
WHEW!!!
Thanks-had to get that off my chest! icon_biggrin.gif
Cheryl, what a small world. My maternal grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins all live in Panama City. My father's side of the family all live in Tallahassee. I spent many, many summers in PC. On another note, I'm also an orange & blue lover but don't tell anyone. icon_biggrin.gif
This is not a biggie... just one of those little things - it appears most references to this are incorrect.
Consider the phrase "this and that", would it not be odd to hear "that and this" ?
Here is an easy way to remember:
You "SAIL"... then you SIGN, SIGN, SIGN, SIGN... LOL
Yes, this is a pointless post (many are!), but at least I have this out of my system now... icon_biggrin.gif
NO it is a Sane & Sign Card. You had better be SANE when you SIGN for all those little foo-foo drinks.etc.etc. LOL!
I think I'll just type S&S card because there's no way I'll ever keep it straight!
They're, their, there . . . site, sight . . . boat, ship . . . like in their quite a site on that boat. Especially after a few good belts. :D
When I board, I have already "signed" for my first round of drinks before I get to my room.Before the ship sails I have signed many times. So Sign & Sail would be correct for me.
Okay, I have to drag out my favorite one:
PREROGATIVE, not perogative or purogative. :mad:
Incidentally, shouldn't the original poster be:
Tom'n'Cheryl ? What's with all the dashes ? :D :D
A few more...deck not FLOOR......cabin or stateroom . . . NOT ROOM
How about "I could care less." The correct term is "Couldn't care less". Could care means that there is more room for caring.
OK..... but then there is more room for caring less, so I COULD care less. If there weren't any more room for caring less, then I COULDN'T care less!:D
Okay, we have some very strict grammar police here, don't we? Is that intended to keep us commoners from posting? I run a discussion group and we have outlawed the spelling police as I feel correcting someone's punctuation, grammar or spelling is a flame and detracts from the expression of ideas.
Anyway, some interesting phrases would include "back and forth" - How can one come back before he has gone forth?
My pet peeve is when people take something out of the freezer to "unthaw" it for dinner.....
to thaw is to melt
to unthaw is to freeze...... so.....
why would someone take something out of the freezer to freeze it????????:eek: :confused:
now I feel better..... I just love group therapy!!!:D
