rcssmom Posted January 22 #1 Share Posted January 22 We are traveling with friends out of Fort Lauderdale on February 4, 2024. We received our boarding times today and theirs is an hour after ours. Do they pay close attention to the times? Would we be better off boarding with them at the later time? Thanks for your help. Karen
Rare POA1 Posted January 22 #2 Share Posted January 22 They did not in mid December.
DE Solo Posted January 22 #3 Share Posted January 22 At Ft. Lauderdale they do not seem to be concerned about what boarding group you are in. Just make sure that you have your boarding pass available, either in print form or on the navigator app, and that the version you have is the one with the barcode on it. Also note that the time on your boarding pass is actually your check in time, not your time to board the ship.
Rare FlaMariner Posted January 22 #4 Share Posted January 22 We've boarded 3 times in the past 2 years at Port Everglades and never at the time listed as "boarding time". Always early. No-one has ever inquired about our boarding time and we've never seen anyone checking for such. We were always welcomed to come in and get checked in...... They are very efficient and eager to get you on your way at Port Everglades..... Enjoy cruising out of Port Everglades.......we do.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted January 22 #5 Share Posted January 22 Should not be an issue with all of you boarding together. The times are check in times, not boarding times, but they're not enforced at that port. Just be sure your boarding passes have barcodes on them. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!

Cruise Suzy Posted January 22 #9 Share Posted January 22 29 minutes ago, kit125 said: so what is the earliest boarding time at Port Everglades? Thanks! It depends on the ship's embarkation time. You cannot check-in until all disembarking passengers are off. Usually the earliest is 10:30-
rcssmom Posted January 22 Author #10 Share Posted January 22 Thank you everyone for your help. We haven't cruised Holland America in 20 plus years so their process is new to us. You were all very helpful. Karen

The earliest times have been things like 10:20, but you will usually then have to wait until 11:15 or 11:30 to actually board.
Rare Haljo1935 Posted January 23 #12 Share Posted January 23 And be sure your check in tasks associated with your booking have all been completed for each person on the booking.
