My View: I See a Cruise on the Horizon! (Semi-Live)

Recommended Posts

We love Willemstad!  I enjoy listening to and reading Dutch on all the signs, and the city carries my late dad’s name, so it has a special place in my heart.

TIP: Curaçao is a great port to get a picture with the ship in the background.  There are two docks and we were at the farthest one.  However, it is an easy walk.

TIP:  When you exit the port gates, keep going straight and follow the path to Rif Fort.  There are two ways to get to the upper level at Rif Fort - one does not have hand railings and the steps are uneven to preserve the original structure.  To the left of those steps, there are more even stairs with hand railings to safely climb.

Views from the wall in Rif Fort:

TIP:  After exiting Rif Fort, follow the sidewalk along the water to the Queen Emma Bridge.  It is a pontoon bridge.  If it is closed to pedestrians, just walk past to the free ferry that will take you to Punda (the main shopping side where the picturesque buildings are).

On the right side of the picture, behind DS and DH is the pedestrian bridge (Queen Emma)

We stayed on the side of the fort (Otrabanda) this time.  Here are a few more views from this side/ship side (even though “Otrabanda” means the other side/shore 😄).

It’s not Dutch/Nederlands if there is no Delft:

DH and I got into a little skirmish 😄

(I am just kidding!  Please don’t call the Carnival Security on us)

TIP:  Always keep your eyes on the water while you walk along the pier.  We have seen so much sea life along different piers in different ports, including jellyfish, Nemo, Dory, and sea turtles…

Saw this little turtle friend from deck 5 - swimming along the pier:

That is all I have energy for tonight… Getting a bit behind, but we have a sea day on Saturday, when I will catch up.  We have a few fun views still to share of Curaçao, then our memorable day in La Romana… Keep cruising along.

Thanks for all the likes and views 🙂  Cruise Critic may be much more quiet since 2020, but it is still my favorite space for the BEST cruise tips and information.

If you have requests, I have 2 more days to find information for you.  If I somehow missed a request, please repost.  I think I covered all of them to date.

🛳️ Happy Cruise Dreams!

I absolutely love the format of your report! Posting "tips" in red font, at the beginning of your posts, is so helpful! We've done this same itinerary, on the Horizon,  but I've picked up on many of your suggestions.  😃

They have two lines - one for people within their boarding time, and one for those who are early or late for their boarding time.

Is there a line for FTTF/priority?

When you connect to free internet and your email app is running in the background, it will download email for a short period - about 30 seconds.  Tested on iPhone and Android.

What is the "free internet"??  Does that just mean the ships wifi that you use for the HUB app?

I am enjoying all the food posts!!

Is there a different schedule for the daily activities in the kids clubs? The last time we sailed on carnival we didn’t have kids so I didn’t pay attention to how that worked.

I want to know this information too!  I saw your response with the screen shots.  Is the info for Circle C and Club O2 in the app as well?  Could you post some screen shots of those?  Also, are you able to see the camp times from night 1 (looking for info on the meet and greet).

Yes, the wifi that is provided for the use of the HUB app is the ‘free internet’.  It will momentarily download email and sometimes even WhatsApp messages. 🙂

Yes, I can still see those in the app.  I will post the screenshots soon for night 1.  I also took screenshots of two sea days to give an idea of the activities.  Will post them shortly. 🙂
