3red7s Posted March 26 #1 Share Posted March 26 Hello CC folks. We are headed to Bermuda in June. This is our 2nd trip & would love to swim in the ocean. I dont know where our last visit was, but the ocean waves and currents were very strong. Can anyone recommend a beach that is calm & not deep? We need something that we can reach via cab or bus from the cruise docs & has bathrooms. Thank you & have a blessed Easter

You can take a ferry to St George to either on a weekday then a taxi to either. You could take a taxi the whole way but that would be pretty expensive.
trivia addict Posted March 28 #3 Share Posted March 28 We always go to Clearwater Beach. Far, but quiet, uncrowded and has amenities.
Rare Laszlo Posted April 12 #4 Share Posted April 12 (edited) Long Bay Beach is pretty calm and much closer to the cruise port https://www.google.com/maps/place/Clearwater+Beach/@32.3041982,-64.8731103,584m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x8a2d6d85032cb229:0xc2333fb654b1b8b1!8m2!3d32.355727!4d-64.6598386!16s%2Fg%2F1td48__g?entry=ttu Edited April 12 by Laszlo

It is not close to the Dockyard cruise port. Long Bay Beach is in Coopers Reserve. Both are on the other end of Bermuda from the cruise port at the Dockyard. Long Bay Beach is great but you have to go to Clearwater, walk into the reserve, then walk to Long Bay Beach. No vehicles are allowed in the reserve. There is a gate. There are no bathrooms like OP asked for. I have been there. Clearwater, Coopers Reserve and Long Bay Beach are about as far from the Dockyard cruise port as you can get. I did them when docked at the cruise port in St. George’s. Edited April 12 by Charles4515

No bathroom there. The sidebar shows Clearwater. I don’t know how google is giving you that mash up.

jollyjones Posted April 13 #9 Share Posted April 13 There are three Long Bays in Bermuda. Somerset, Warwick and Cooper's Island. To the OP, your best bet is Tobacco Bay, get the ferry from Dockyard to St George, then a short taxi ride over the hill. Despite the reef, most of our beaches can see rough conditions depending on the weather.
Jim and Monika Posted April 19 #10 Share Posted April 19 Any idea how much a Taxi would be from Hamilton to Clearwater?

Taxi from Hamilton probably about $40. Edited April 20 by Charles4515
Jim and Monika Posted April 20 #13 Share Posted April 20 Our ship will be docking in St George for a short day and 2 1/2 days at Hamilton. Looking for options in Hamilton beside Horseshoe Bay.

Looking for options in Hamilton beside Horseshoe Bay. If you decide to go to Clearwater/Coopers from Hamilton personably I would take a taxi direct from Hamilton. Unless you want to stopover in St. George’s or the Dockyard buses and or ferries will take more time, complications and probably only save $10. trivia addict Posted April 20 #15 Share Posted April 20 If costs are somewhat comparable then probably the taxi would be the better choice. In many ways that would save a lot of travel time to Clearwater from Hamilton.

The problem is that it only runs once an hour. It has a reputation of being unpredictable.
majesty318 Posted June 12 #18 Share Posted June 12 We just went to Somerset Long Bay from dockyard via bus/ walking - 10 minute bus & 10 minute walk. Very calm shallow water and no one there. They did have porta-potties and a man renting chairs.

I have been there in past years a couple of times and there were no porta potties of chair rentals.
