They removed cream from the buffet dispensers. In the main dining room always asked for whole milk for my coffee and they gave me a whole glass so I got a lot of calcium. Does it always rains in Halifax. I was there in 2012 June and it was pouring. We rented a car to go to Peggy Cove and couldn’t see a thing and then went to a hole in the wall for lobsters where we selected our lobster and they cooked it in front of us. Now that is the place for lobster! Don't know if it will make you feel any better, but we were in Halifax twice on cruises, and both times it did NOT rain. 1

I have a little bit of a love affair with the Lily Tomlin/Jane Fonda pairing of late! I can't say 80 for Brady was...ummm...an award winning movie, but it did keep me awake, unlike Barbie! I had such a nice sleep onboard Pr1ma while my husband watched Barbie. Based on my recollections, it seemed I made it through about 20 minutes of that movie. 🙂 1 minute ago, ontheweb said: Don't know if it will make you feel any better, but we were in Halifax twice on cruises, and both times it did NOT rain. Way back in 2009, we took a Carnival Triumph cruise. We did stop in Halifax. I can confirm it was raining and foggy! My grandma and I strolled through the port building, purchasing a few things, then jumped back onboard. After that cruise, it's a surprise I ever cruised again. It did take 13 years to get me back on, but on a NCL ship, instead of a "fun ship." I'm glad I went! And all you Criticers - I'm so thankful for you sharing your experiences on Pr1ma's Transatlantic. Wish I were there with y'all! Edited April 29 by cruiseny4life

The P Posted April 29 #337 Share Posted April 29 Henry, the moose you took a pic of a few items back is the Mascot of the Day. Too cute. Give the ladies time; you just started and by the time you're home some shopping will have occurred. Just be glad if no $$$$ handbags were bought on the ship. 5 days at sea could lead to impulse shopping. Does the ship still sell a lot of tech stuff? Oh oh!!!! LOL Sharon

Thank you! I'm happy to see Cloud House half and half on the ship. Despite that it looks like it isn't real, it is real dairy and, more importantly, is actual UHT half and half so I don't need to be bringing boxes of Mini Moos with me.

I wonder if at housekeeping they have photos posted on the walls showing the pillow configuration for the day, just like they have photos of the food posted on the walls at the galley. Rare mking8288 Posted April 29 Author #345 Share Posted April 29 (edited) FYI only - London Gatwick traffic alert for those flying out - just been alerted by our Southampton car (taxi tour) services. "I've just received news that the main orbital motorway to Gatwick is going to be closed for major engineering work on the weekend of 10th - 13th May (see attachment). This is going to have a massive impact on our journey to Gatwick from Windsor and I think you should reconsider. The other alternative is to take the coast road and visit either Portsmouth, Chichester or Arundel Castle." Otherwise, it's past 16:30 or 4:30 PM ... all abroad. Rare mking8288 Posted April 29 Author #346 Share Posted April 29 Pearl is on their way, early arrival ETA on CruiseMapper, ditto for us at this moment. Rare Sugar Magnolia Posted April 29 #349 Share Posted April 29 Having read that @mking8288 was disappointed with the lobster at Palomar, the featured Mediterranean seafood restaurant on board the Prima, I decided to take matters into my own hands and hunt for lobster while in Halifax. Many folks mentioned Salty's, a waterfront seafood restaurant which is a short walk from the Halifax port, so off I went to satisfy my crustacean craving. And the verdict...3.75 out of 5 stars. The service was cheery and prompt. The view and calming atmosphere enhanced the enjoyment of the meal. The lobster meat was fresh and sweet. However, the cook made a cardinal sin by overcooking the lobster, which made it chewier than it should be. Not terrible, but lost a few points in my opinion. This alone would not discourage me from giving Salty's another shot next time; however, there are always other restaurant's I might want to try. @JIMESOPUS unfortunately, I did not have a chance to go to Julien's Patisserie but it is at the top of my list for next time. 3
Rare mking8288 Posted April 29 Author #350 Share Posted April 29 (edited) Here she goes and bye, Halifax until ... underway by 5:15 PM @Sugar Magnolia Salty's. LoL, we found it and were there but too early, employees just beginning to show up for work ... so, we Uber again to hunt down Pho. Was very good + the crew know this place, word of mouth.
