NCL Prima eastbound 15 days TA (Live) 27 Apr, 2024 - N.Y. to Southampton via Halifax, Iceland & EU ports - preview intro

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

It's official, Alvin CD just announced that Prima will be arriving by 6 AM due to onboard medical emergency, cruising at max speed - guests are advised to wait 90 minutes after arrival to set up the gangway, offload the patient, etc. before other guests can go ashore.  No changes to shorex times via NCL.  All abroad time is 12:30 PM on Monday.

For all practical purposes, we gained 6 hours in Iceland.

We pray for the patient's speedy recovery and to get well, and our thoughts & prayers for family & others traveling together.

@Fogfog  Sharon, sometimes, I rather be wrong or proven to be something else & different, logics and other data, put the puzzles together - led me to made that bold & darling call.  I really wished the reason to speed up is for something else - with 3 Code Alpha

All of this Chocolate Cowboy talk has caused me to dig deep into the photo archives for this picture of the Schmoopies with the famous one behind the bar on the Prima last year.

Station Zebra online - Linux Ubuntu v22.x LTS with Chrome browser, NCL hotspot log-in screen. Disable or turnoff VPN if connectivity issues are encountered.

There are a total of 4 110v 3-prong US outlet in the balcony cabin, plus 1 220v 2 pin EU outlet (adapter required) and 2 sets of USB charging outlets, 1 being A and other C type, max output is 1.5A only.

However, by (poor) design, unless you are using a micro-sized or slim/compact charger, the USB-A or USB-C outlet will be unusable, blocked ... unless you have a short 6" extension cord/tap (non-surge suppressed)

Bedside, one 119v outlet is available and 1 pair of USB outlet per bedside USB lamp.

Yes, I discovered that on our Prima cruise last summer, an internet cafe with NO COMPUTERS. 😒

Dined with officers today at Hudson’s from 7:00 to 9:20. We shared a meal with the 2nd Engineer from Ukraine and the CruiseNext Manager from South Africa. It was an enjoyable meal and I always love hearing about their fascinating lives and careers.

We will arrive Reykjavik around 4:00 AM.

What is that couple up to?  Maybe trying to sneak into unguarded Haven elevators?

it looks to my untrained eye like they are dancing.

(of course, i don't know much about dancing. or couples.)

Just after midnight, Prima still at 18 kts and probably 70 to 80 NM from the cruise terminal.

With Iceland face to face immigration,  passport check for all at the Commodore Room, we are ordering hot breakfast room service delivery this morning to avoid chaotic mess by going downstairs to eat as the buffet is likely going to be a zoo.

C.I. shared info that ship could be docking as early as 4 AM.

Did you receive the posted times for immigration? Some notes say we can disembark when the ship is cleared.. others say face to face immigration?

Update: I an sure you probably heard Alvin, CD announced just now, right before 8 AM that gangways are open & guests can go ashore.

Annoyed that the Freestyle Daily printed misleading info about the need to do Face to Face interview, and, it wasn't corrected and revised until this announcement 😤

We are doing freestyle driving tour ourselves and already changed our pickup time nearby at MyCar.IS to 11 AM ... and will go ashore around 10:30.

Wish all a great visit while here over the next 28+ hours.  Save the port agent info on the FSD, just in case.

Have fun in Iceland. Three tips; #1Watch your car doors from exiting the car. Huge gusts of winds come out of no where and literally tear the doors off at the least door serious damage to the car next to you. #2 Be sure to sample Icelandic hotdog #3 Best place to get food souvenirs is the local supermarket other than the airport duty free ( which obviously you are not going there)  Thrift shops have the best deals on those sweaters and there is a flea market downtown on the weekends. I was there in 2019 on a land vacation and on one of the last flights before WOW airlines went bankrupt

This is what was done on our cruise with Iceland----Our first port was supposed to be Isafjordur, which never happened and became a sea day. There was an announcement that everyone except those who were on a back to back and had already been to Iceland had to see the immigration people on I forget which deck. Your time to see them was determined by what deck your cabin was on. When there, you showed them your passport, and it was stamped.
