Yes, if booking a new cruise while on a cruise you can buy a FCD and then use it as the deposit.

I think you are thinking about Future Cruise Deposits, FCDs. They cost $100 each. Booking, not sailing, must be made within one year of purchase. They are individual. If you are a couple then each one must have the FCD if each wants to receive the benefits. They are fully refundable if not used. When used the $100 is the full deposit (world cruises excepted) and you will receive some OBC according to the cabin type and length of the cruise, see below. Purchase of FCDs goes directly to your credit card, not to your on board accounts.

Future Cruise Length Per Person Shipboard Credit*

17 - 44 Days $125 Inside, $125 Outside, $150 Balcony, $150 Suite

11 - 16 Days $75 Inside, $75 Outside, $100 Balcony, $100 Suite

3 - 6 Days $15 Inside, $15 Outside, $25 Balcony, $25 Suite"

It sometimes takes a day or so to get the email which contains the FCD. If you are planning on booking while on the ship, do it at the beginning of your cruise. I haven't tried the new app, but the old app made it so easy to just do the purchase in the app.

Did it on the app on a recent cruise. It was easy and appeared within a day as an email and on my account on Princess

I filled out a hard copy form. Emails were received the next day.

You can purchase as many as you like, we usually buy 5 at a time.

I purchased six. Just fill in the number you want. I will use them for the 2025/2026 winter season. If I don't book all six I will get the refund(s).
