Celebrity Policy for consolidating from 2 cabins to 1 on same sailing

Recommended Posts

In a situation where we can consolidate from 2 cabins to 1 and save some $$$.

Does anyone know if Celebrity will charge a change fee if we proceed with this transaction?

Unless you have a refundable deposit, you will lose the deposit on the cancelled cabin, and then your remaining cabin will be repriced at whatever the current pricing structure is.

There's no publicly available policy on how this change should be handled monetarily, so it's hard to tell what they would do. At a minimum, you should be able to retain non-refundable deposits for at least 1 of the reservations as changes in stateroom category are allowed without penalty up until final payment date. They might be able to move the deposit amount from the other cabin as well without penalty because you're not changing the ship or sail date.  Doesn't hurt to call and ask.

I think it would depend on if you booked with a refundable deposit or nonrefundable deposit. If you booked with a nonrefundable deposit, you would lose your deposit money on the cabin you are canceling.

From your point of view, it’s consolidating but from the Celebrity  point of view you are canceling and rebooking

Yes and no.  Celebrity allows modifications of stateroom category assignment to prevailing rates (upgrade or downgrade) at any time prior to final payment without penalty or change fees.  In this case, they would have no reason to charge a penalty for modifying one of the reservations, but they may treat the second reservation as a cancellation and charge a change fee for those passengers.  Since their change fees are for modifications to ship and/or sail date (in this case since both are remaining the same) they don't really have any reason to charge either reservation.

Suggest the OP call and ask since there is no consistent answer here,  then report back.
I tend to agree that it can be looked at as a cancellation of 1 cabin and repricing of the other cabin to  reflect the additional passenger(s) in the remaining cabin.

Thanks for all your responses, overnight the fares for the cruise We are booked on went up considerably.

With the current fares , it is better for us to  stay put.
I will keep an eye on these fares , should they drop again, I will contact X about consolidating to one cabin.

Should that happen, I will post the outcome on this post.

Again , thanks for your comments and suggestions.
