Just received this email today for a departure in 7 days time.

We are looking forward to welcoming you on board Queen Mary 2.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, it has become necessary for us to close the Verandah Steakhouse during your voyage. Unfortunately, this means that we have had to cancel all bookings for this restaurant whilst you are on board.

Anyone heard of this happening before.

So much for alternative dinning choice

Mysterious. Try one of the pop ups. They are very nice.

I wonder if this might have something to do with the first Le Gavroche at Sea residency with Michel Roux which is scheduled for the June 2nd Norwegian Fjords cruise. That will be taking place in the Verandah. I don't know why they'd necessarily have to close the Verandah to prepare during the 3-night May 30th cruise immediately preceding that first Le Gavroche at Sea cruise. I don't recall reading anything about the Verandah having to close prior to the recent Festival of Food and Wine crossing which also featured dinners by Michel Roux in the Verandah. But that's one possible theory that comes to mind anyway.

Interesting, I have just recently disembarked from QM2 , in conversation with a couple of the crew members they just happened to mention there are still some soft furnishing to be completed in one or two venues ( one area the G32 ) Apparently not everything was completed during the last refit ?

Not too sure if this has anything to do with it .

Edited to add;  Come back and let us know the reason when you are finally onboard

I would imagine it is for the staff to get acquainted and drilled with the new location, plus possibly the installation of certain specialist equipment etc. Everything will need to be absolutely spot on come June 2nd, given how both Cunard has trumpeted it, and the restaurant and Roux's reputations for perfection, and with no let up in the schedule, it's too much of a risk to try and just flip a switch. A 3 night cruise beforehand sounds like the ideal opportunity to rehearse and iron out any issues.
