Utah-Tiki Posted June 1 #1 Share Posted June 1 Does anyone know which port NCL Sky will be using in Puerto Plata in June? Where ever I look, I get different answers. Also, looking at a document from NCL, all it says is Puerto Plata passenger jetty. Is that a new port? Thank you to anyone who can clear this up for me. 🙂
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 1 #2 Share Posted June 1 NCL usually docks at Taino Bay. Amber Cove is a Carnival dock.
Utah-Tiki Posted June 1 Author #3 Share Posted June 1 Thank you. I thought it was a little strange that they would be docking at a Carnival dock, but everything was coming up at Amber Cove. Then I found the NCL note about passenger jetty and got very confused. 😂 I believe cruising is great if you can go with the flow. I do much better with that if I kind of know what to expect. Happy cruising!
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 1 #4 Share Posted June 1 Happy Anniversary. Taino Bay has wonderful complimentary facilities including two pools, a "beach", lazy river, flow rider and games. Lots of bars and some restaurants. We have been there twice this year and just spent the day at the port.
DorothyB Posted June 1 #5 Share Posted June 1 Thanks for the info on Taino Bay - A lazy river sounds perfect. Might do the cable cars on my own, then the lazy river!

Where ever I look, I get different answers Welcome to Cruise Critic! NCL does sometimes dock at Amber Cove, but the official Amber Cove port web site is not showing any NCL ships there in June. I agree with the folks above that you should expect to be docking in Taino Bay. https://www.ambercove.com/Port-Schedule.aspx
ready2cruzagain Posted June 1 #7 Share Posted June 1 In January we were on the NCL Epic and it docked in Amber Cove, not Taino Bay. On our itinerary it stated Amber Cove, DR. We are booked this December and it just says Puerto Plata, DR so Taino Bay it will be this time.
Rare schmoopie17 Posted June 1 #8 Share Posted June 1 On the NCL Ports page of their website, it still says this for Puerto Plata. With the vast majority of their ships docking at Taino Bay, you would think they would remove this blurb. But there it is, for our confusion...er, convenience. Port Name & Location Amber Cove Cruise Terminal. Ship will DOCK at this port.
