Any improvement on casino smoke on the Getaway?

It was so bad we only gambled in the NS area.

It was occasionally noticeable on the floors above & below along the staircase.

A travel companion found it intolerable...we just didn't hang out in the areas where it might be smoky.

Has there been any improvement?

Aren''t they making an enclosed smoking casino area during dry dock?

Should greatly alleviate the smoking issue like in other ships that have the separate smoking "room".

Yes, we are hearing that they made an enclosed smoking section in the casino during the just completed drydock.

Hoping to hear more about it from those currently sailing.

Am I correct that she is in drydock right now?

Nope - completed last week and sailed from Southampton Thursday. Now sailing around Portugal and Spain on the way to Barcelona.

The starboard aft area of the casino , by Shanghi, was enclosed,  but the rest of the casino area was not cleaned or carpet replaced. Deck 7 is still an ashtray.

I’m hoping the lingering smell will gradually reduce if they aren’t going to change out all the soft furnishings that absorbed that smell over the years. They need to douse the whole area between the forward and aft elevator banks from deck 6 to 8 in the strongest anti-smoke scent blockers they can source.

Meh. The whiners will just complain about the chemicals used in the deodorizer.

I very much dislike the smell of tequila. Why do they have to serve it in every.single.bar? Who can I contact about this abomination?

Unfortunately some of us get physically sick from the smell of stale smoke. My parents thought I had motion sickness as a kid but once I had my own car and it came back from a service with the smell of smoke from the mechanics I realised it was the smell that was responsible. We always used my father's car for long trips and he was a smoker. Back then smoking as allowed on public transport too.

I don't have issues drinking certain types of vodka but the smell isn't a problem.

Deck 8 on the outdoor promenade outside the Sunset bar and Syd's. One side of the pool deck for a defined section enclosed by glass partitions at either end (but open to the pool area.) And it has been a smoking area by the bar at Spice H2O but heard some say they are eliminating that one.

My post was a bit of joke, obviously. But seriously, if my daughter gets physically sick from the smell of lavender deodorizer, used to eliminate the stale smell of smoke, why are you more important than her?

Not to worry.  At some point down the road all cruise ships will be 100% non-smoking.  May not be soon, but it will eventually happen.  If tobacco states like VA and NC can ban smoking in bars, restaurants, anything is possible in the realm.  I am looking forward to the day it is announced and will applaud loudly.

Smelling tequila won't kill you.  Bretahing in 2nd hand smoke can.  As long as you don't stick your nose in someone's drink you won't smell tequila.  Pointng out a fact is not complaining.

I know it's hard, but try to follow along. We're talking about stale smoke smell in furniture, walls, carpets, etc. It's not 2nd hand smoke. That's long gone. Now we're talking about the chemicals in the deodorizers.

But thanks for playing.

You're actually talking about 3rd hand smoke at that stage (plus the deodorizing chemicals) 🙂
