torybruno Posted June 12 #1 Share Posted June 12 We are flying into Anchorage from Detroit, we will arrive in Anchorage 11:30am, by the time we collect luggage and 2 car rentals for our group of 8, our internal clock will be 4:30pm… thinking we should find somewhere to eat before we make the drive to our Airbnb in Seward. Any recommendations? Don’t really care about the bar atmosphere because we will be driving afterwards. Maybe somewhere with good fish and chips, burgers, etc. Thanks in advance! Northern Aurora Posted June 12 #2 Share Posted June 12 Where are you picking up the car? At the Anchorage airport? Have you considered stoping in Girdwood for a meal?
Glaciers Posted June 12 #3 Share Posted June 12 Arctic Roadrunner on Old Seward Hwy would work. It’s a 10 minute drive from the airport and on your way out of town. It’s a favorite locals spot.
Aquahound Posted June 13 #4 Share Posted June 13 I recommend 49th State...not the one at the airport...but the one that is downtown. The chowder, the yak burger and the elk smash burger are amazing. It's also a brewery so the beer menu is pretty awesome as well. If you like specialty pizzas, Moose's Tooth is a must. Plus, this restaurant isn't out of your way downtown. It's just off your route. I've been looking forward to trying that Yak burger since we started planning our trip in 2022,

Maybe pick someone to eat light so they can avoid food coma on the stunning drive down Turnagain Arm. diesel1973 Posted June 13 #7 Share Posted June 13 F Street Station and Humpys are down town. In Girdwood there is the Bake Shop. You could also go gift shopping in Anchorage and enjoy a Reindeer sausage sandwich from a street vendor.
jean-lynd Posted June 13 #8 Share Posted June 13 Our dentist says we have to go to Gwennie's Old Alaska Restaurant. It's 2.5 miles from the airport.
