Overnight in one port

We booked a cruise for next May with Celebrity that has 2 days in Copenhagen.  This is our second cruise and I am not sure how overnights work.

This will be day 11 and 12 of the cruise.  Do you have to be back on board by a certain time on day 11 even though the ship isn't leaving until the afternoon of day 12?

Thanks.

All great suggestions above!!!

I'll add a suggestion (from personal experience) :

If you think you'll be going back to the port late at night, learn the scheduled times the local transportation runs to the port.

In one overnight port we failed to do that and ended up walking all the way back to the port and ship.  Not the worst place for us to have done that, but would not want to do that in some ports, or again after walking all day long.  Wow, were we tired and thirsty by the time we got back to our cabin!  😳

We booked a cruise to leave from Florida and visit the A,B,C islands.  About two months after booking we received an email from Celebrity that they will be skipping Bonaire and staying overnight in Curacao.  The email gave us an option to cancel but we love Curacao.  I took a picture of the signage on the ship because we had never stayed overnight on a cruise except for Cuba.  The only sign posted was that crew was due back but cruisers had no limitations.

Most places it is not a problem but in some of the communist countries you could have an issue with security and visas.  In St. Petersburg you had to have a visa to get off the ship. Our visas came with the tour company booking but were only good when we were escorted by the guide.  In China our visas were done with the Chinese government so we were able to come and go if port security was open.  It always pays to check out each port for details.  Of course ships don't go to St. Petersburg anymore.....

You don't have to be back at all during the night; just observe when the cutoff is to get back on board before the ship leaves.

I remember the ship being in Bangkok for almost 48 hours and the port is very far from the city so we ended up just staying at a nice hotel in the city rather than trekking back.
