Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 26 Author #301 Share Posted July 26 @cr8tiv1, maybe we might see some NL tonight or tomorrow? But since we’ll be in Stockholm all night tonight, tomorrow night might be more likely if the skies are clear and darker as we will be cruising on the high seas. Probably not. But I’ll be looking! 😂

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 26 Author #303 Share Posted July 26 (edited) Here’s some photos from the land portion of our excursion today. Our first stop was a walk through the Old Town. A copy of the St George Slaying the Dragon statue. We saw the original later on in the cathedral we visited. Then it was time to go see the Royal Palace. m And we’re off to see the cathedral. Of course, we had to stop and watch the military parade! Had to stop and admire these pretty flowers along the way along with this cute little honey bee doing her thing! 😁 m This is the original St George Slaying the Dragon statue. And we’re off to catch our boat ride portion of our excursion. 😁 Edited July 26 by Ken the cruiser
phabric Posted July 26 #304 Share Posted July 26 Through the palace and church, did you walk at your own pace or as a group and the guided talked?
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 26 Author #305 Share Posted July 26 (edited) Now for the river cruise portion of our excursion. It was a short walk from our meeting point in front of the Royal Palace to the pier where we boarded our river boat to go for a cruise around Skeppsholmen Island. And we’re off! This was our meeting point area in front of the Royal Palace. Just a bunch of birds, mostly Ruddy Ducks and some geese, bonding with each other along the riverside! 😁 Bean Geese out taking a little swim. Then we reentered the bay near where our ship is docked. An old wind mill. Mute Swans, where one has its head underwater looking for something tasty to eat. 😁 The amusement park across the bay from the ship. As a group with our tour guide. They gave us each a headphone set, which made it very easy to listen to what our guide was saying on the walking portion of our tour. For us, they came in very handy as we would wonder around to take pictures while still being able to listen to what he had to say. 😁

Wish more excursion companies had the headsets. Edited July 26 by phabric

By my count, you had a Formal Night on the Sea Day before arriving in Skagen and a second on your Sea Day before arriving in Stockholm. Much appreciated. We are doing that exact itinerary way down the road and while things are always subject to change, it is good to get a head start in planning. We like to stick to the MDRs on Formal Nights.

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 26 Author #316 Share Posted July 26 Tonight after dinner, we headed to the theater to watch the comedian Bill Woodland. There was supposed to be a singer, but his baggage didn’t arrive with him today. So they asked Bill to perform the evening show rather than in the Laugh Lounge later on tonight. I guess they’re going to air the Olympics in the Vista Lounge tonight. Then we headed to Princess Live to watch The Livingroom Battle, which was a lot of fun!

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 26 Author #318 Share Posted July 26 (edited) We are scheduled to leave at 2 pm tomorrow with a planned arrival in Tallinn around 8 am tomorrow morning. The funny thing is Tallinn is relatively due east of Stockholm, which means as @Esprit suggests we are going to have quite the scenic adventure tomorrow afternoon winding through the Archipelago that surrounds Stockholm! 😁 On the bright side it looks like there will be clear skies and smooth sailing as the forecast is calling for clear skies around 10 pm as we cross the Baltic Sea heading towards Tallinn. But that’s tomorrow. This was the view at 11:15 pm tonight! 😁 Edited July 26 by Ken the cruiser

They were definitely Barnacle Geese! 😁 My photo Photos of Barnacle Geese Photos of Bean Geese The website I originally searched actually had both in the same picture with the caption saying Bean Goose. Needless to say I won’t be referring to that website again! Thanks for keeping me straight! 😁 1

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 27 Author #322 Share Posted July 27 (edited) Here are some photos from the 3+ hours we spent cruising through the archipelago. Saw about 20 swans all hanging out together! Herecwere a couple of swans along with a small group swimming through the pass. Needless to say, we saw quite a few of them on this trek through the archipelago. 😁 Then we looked back and saw the storm clouds over Stockholm which were heading our way. The question was, could we out run the storm? This was interesting. There was an old wooden pier in front of 3 caves that were carved into this big rock, each of which had a large door blocking its entrance. No idea what was in there. This was a car ferry waiting. We saw a few of them along the way. The storm was getting closer. 😱 m and it finally arrived. Luckily, we were on the calmer side of the ship when it hit! About 10 minutes later after the Captain slowed the ship down, it had passed on by. It even left us a pretty rainbow to admire in front of our balcony. 😁 There were a bunch of different types of birds on these 3 little islands, to include a few cormorants and a Herring Gull sitting in a nest in the nearby leafless tree. We finally left the archipelago waterway around 6:30 pm while we were eating dinner. And we’re off to Tallinn, Estonia! jeanandmark Posted July 27 #323 Share Posted July 27 Following along! Thank you so much for all your info! Question... are the shows in the Princess Theater always the same times, 8:00 and 10:00pm? We are still trying to decide what dining time we want for the Main Dining room. Again, thank you so much!

Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 27 Author #325 Share Posted July 27 Tonight after dinner we headed to the theater to listen to vocalist Andre Cruz. However, we left during his final song, Hey Jude, to get a good seat in the Piazza to watch Tibor Szabo do his juggling thing! We briefly saw him yesterday as we passed by the Piazza on our way to the theater and definitely wanted to come back tonight to see him in action, and we were not disappointed! 😁
