Grandeur of the Seas Post Drydock - Feedback Please

Recommended Posts

We are considering a 5 day cruise on the Grandeur in September and are wondering what improvements were made during the recent drydock.  We were on her in January, and while the crew was amazing, the decor (seating, carpets, bedding) were definitely in need of "refreshment".

We would appreciate feedback from anyone who has been on the ship in May or June.

Thank you!!

We were on Grandeur in May and I asked one of the staff what was updated they said "pipes". It didn't appear anything in lounges or cabins was updated.

I enjoyed 10 days on Grandeur in late April. We loved the ship and crew.  The upgraded internet was great!  Our cabin, a GS, looked nice and well kept.  We did have a couple of maintenance issues that were taken care of quickly.  I didn't see any areas that were worn enough to catch my eye.  We will go on her again next year.

I have a five night in September and a nine night in November booked. I can overlook a lot if the crew and itinerary are great. Besides they were both casino offers.

What kind of improvements were you expecting on a 32 year old ship?

They should at least throw in a Playmakers on each of the old ships, that alone would be awesome.

That would typically be done with a refurbishment, not a standard maintenance drydock.  I believe the last refurb was in 2012 and I'm not aware of any plans to do another.

And as @PhillyFan33579 suggests she is an old ship, and I don't think they are investing a lot with their older ships.  In fact she is RCCL's oldest ship, but 28 this year, not 32 years, as her maiden voyage was December 14, 1996.  (I was on that sailing - LOL).

I knew I should have used a calculator to count the years. 🙂

I only knew because I was on that sailing.  As you are likely aware from other posts my brain also gets rather rusty from time to time - LOL.
