California Cruising

We are considering a cruise from San Francisco to Mexico on Ruby Princess in October 2025. Whilst there seems to be plenty of advice on the weather ( all of which seem positive ) there doesn’t seem to be much information on sea conditions. My wife is a very poor traveller and cannot tolerate anything above moderate. Does anyone have any advice?

Seas can be rough any time, anywhere, and its not predictable until a couple days in advance. That is the way of the sea, and you need to be prepared anytime you sail on any vessel. The northbound sailing up the coast of Baja California does have a history of rougher seas, as you are sailing against the current and the common winds.

Simple answer is you can't predict sea conditions. They vary in that stretch and you are in open ocean for all of it. That part of the Pacific certainly doesn't have the reputation of say the North Atlantic but there are rough days just like anywhere else.

Northbound Pacific coast can be as rough as it gets anywhere.  Usually the roughest is north of LA to SF.  Good thing is you will have been on the ship for a week so might be a little more accustom to the sea at that point.
