Arvia K417 Change of Port

We travel tomorrow on Arvia for 14 night Med cruise. Just received a letter from P&O saying we will now not be calling at Valencia due wait for it yes you guessed it ‘Operational Reasons’. We are however going to Cartagena instead, I wondered what operational reasons would we be missing Valencia?

Actually, this is positive. A lot of negative feedback on needing a slow port shuttle to get out of the port, or needing to buy chargeable shuttle into Valencia.

 

Cartagena arrivals are right near the town centre.

Moleys not wrong  when Valencia shuttles tok you to the old town, then it was quite a nice place to visit, however for those who just enjoy a wander around, then Cartagena is a great place to visit.

Good to know and it is another port we haven’t been too so will make the most of it and I can see it will be very easy to walk into the town.

We liked Valencia in the days when the shuttle dropped you off at the old town,  Not so good when we went last year and the shuttle stop is now a modern museum, unless you like that of course.

 

Been to Cartagena twice;  Lovely place.  The Roman amphitheatre is great if that's your thing.  Pleasant walk into town from the ship.

@Plugtheleak, we are two cruises after you and were informed months ago about the port change from Valencia to Cartagena. For us, a positive as it is a new destination for us and we wouldn't have the shuttle bus shenanigans.

In addition to the amphitheatre in Cartagena there is also the castle with stunning views over the town, bay and surrounding area
