Refare question

I recently placed a deposit on the Coral for a Panama Canal cruise next year. I noticed this morning there had been a price reduction, I used chat and received the reduced price. My original booking was cancelled and I was given a new confirmation number. Is this normal when a refare is processed? This is my second cruise on Princess. I had three refares on my first cruise last year, but never had the original cancelled and then rebooked. The only difference on the new booking is a small increase in casino credit. The lower price was the same whether or not I was logged into my Princess account.

A little hard to say....

If there was an increase in the casino credit that indicates, at least to me, a 'promotional fare' of some description.  When dealing with promo fares, I've generally experienced the cancel/rebook/get new reservation number process rather than a simple change in price.

No. You rebooked your cruise. Not an issue unless you ran the risk of loosing a perk. But there's a better promo on now with up to 400 OBC plus:

Refare: keep booking # & promos just lower price

Rebook: new booking number, promos, need agent (TA or CVP) to lift and shift ezair & excursions booked or they won't / may not transfer to new booking #

Adding: if it was me I'd insist in the future to REFARE not REBOOK so I could keep adding 120% of price difference in even more OBC

Some agents don't know how. Especially those on chat. And sometimes it is difficult to get the new promo with out cancelling/rebooking.
