Looking at the Skyrail, Kuranda and rail trip excursion on Diamond Princess.
It has a warning about heights, vertigo (obviously) and claustrophobia?

Anyone any experience of this excursion.

Slightly put off by the claustrophobia.

I don't like heights myseld, but we did the Skyrail and it was fine - I had no problems

Same for me, I don't like heights but it was fine. The gondolas take you across the treetops, not over canyons or the like. At the Cairns end, it goes either up or down the hillside, depending on which direction you are travelling, following the contour of the land. The views are stunning.

As regards claustrophobia, each gondola holds 6 people, seated. You have windows all around for viewing, so you have good visibility. I figure they mention claustrophobia to cover all their bases because, obviously, you can only exit and enter gondolas at the station stops, and not in transit 🚡

We did it years ago. It's well worth it. Stunning views of the coast from the Skyrail and it's worth getting off at the stops to view the rainforest. The train trip is also very scenic.

I don't know why they included claustrophobia though. Weird!

I'm with @Muffinz, some time ago we did both of these and enjoyed them immensely.  I'm as sturdy as a mallee bull but Grumpy's a sookie la la about heights and he had no probs with vertigo or claustrophobia.  Which brings to mind when we were in Santorini and only way down to the ship was via a cable car sort of thing, poor Grumps had to sit away from the direction of travel, close his eyes and hang onto my hands the whole way down.  I was, of course, dutifully sympathetic at the time.

Good thinking Jean, alighting mid trip could be a bit tricky and very messy. 😉

Don't worry, I have a wife that tried to bail out of the little chairlift at Magic Mountain when it was on the Gold Coast. She has improved with practice, and Kuranda is well within accepted limits for her.

We are on the same cruise, and may well do the Skyrail again.

Thank you all for your responses.

Very helpful and reassuring.

Was a bit concerned about the claustrophobia statement,( hoping it wasn’t something like Pyramids in Giza, when you realise you might suffer from this)

but appreciate that they have to cover all bases.
Going ahead to book this.

Many years ago in the Swiss Alps a man on our tour was determined to get to the top of the mountain but he was terrified of heights.  He sat on the floor of the gondola with his head in his hands the whole way, but he did enjoy the view when he got to the top and alighted.  You never know how different things affect people.
