In discussion with Princess, this is what I learned. yes it is in the contract but you can not smoke or vape in cabins . unless there is a special circumstance.

from Princess

Although shows in the passage contact that it is allowed it depend also in the situation for guest.

I asked them to explain

The confines of the Guest's stateroom example of this is quarantined to prevent the spread of a contagious disease to other guests. Other option is to inquire to our guest service once your onboard

So clear as mud!

I think I would have responded, "I am sorry, but I am not seeing this restriction in the contract.  Unless I am missing something, I am pretty sure people will see this contract as written and decide they can vape in their stateroom.  Can you please point me in the contract to where it stipulates this is limited to special circumstances?"

What is concerning to me, is that the paraphernalia they use could be permitted OB and if so, how do they check the liquid or other stuff they can use in it?
Seems to me, it’s left wide open for security inspection and implementation of rules.  If other substances were used, I would not be able to stay in that cabin.

So far, only restrictions I have seen for no vaping in cabins is out of Australia and Quebec.

Still don’t know about Japan, NZ, Singapore, etc.  Anyone have a cruise departure for other areas, check your App, passenger contract on that cruise for us.  TIA

I mentioned earlier that I have sailings booked from Japan, Buenos Aires, Southampton, and Port Everglades. All show the same wording regarding vaping being allowed in cabins.

Based on comments people who live in Germany (and other countries) and sailing from Southampton have different wording in their contract about smoking and vaping that I do.  I doubt they change the wording for different sailings from the same port.

Odd.  From Southampton..,I thought everyone shows vaping IS allowed in cabins?

This discussion certainly highlights the fact that there are several different worded contracts around. Being in the UK I find there is nothing in mine about vapes / electronic cigarettes. I have queried this anomaly on X / Twitter, but no response from Princess, so far.

I wonder if they can change the wording after one has ticked to say they have read it!!

Yes, they can change the rules at any time, says so in the contract.

I book sometimes 2 years out, they certainly can change the rules many times.

Thank you!  I’m surprised from SIN it is allowed.

So far only from Australia and Quebec are restricted.  Not allowed in cabins Vaping.

No mention of it in the contract if you live in the UK.  This means there are at least 2 different contracts applicable on a single cruise depending on where you live.

They told me that they can. As the passage contract just says it includes brochure and website contents, I argued that it is ridiculous since that changes all the time.

In regard to Singapore, it is illegal to bring vaping paraphernalia into Singapore, and it risks being confiscated and fined.  As is the importing/arriving with nicotine vape liquids, or other sources of nicotine (gum, skin patches, mouth pouches/lozenges), and packets of cigarettes are subject to a tariff if over a certain amount.  I found this out while researching a trip to Singapore.

As for vaping in your cabin, I'm also in the Ewww group, and definitely would not want that smell there at all.  I cannot stand the variety of scents/flavors offered, they all just are gross to me. Hope this a passing phase, and will soon be removed from the contract.

Exactly, I know how strict they are in Singapore.  That’s why I was so surprised it was allowed.

But, how would you even bring it into the country anyway?  😆

Maybe for consistency in the contracts?

IDK.  Just crazy.😝

AFAIK, up until now, vapes have been treated the same as cigarettes.  So, allowing them onboard isn't new.  It's the smoking in cabins that is new.

I can see how some young people might use obnoxious flavors with a strong smell.  In my experience, most adults that vape do it so they can get away with smoking in places that don't typically allow smoking.  So they use cartridges with no smell and minimal smoke.  I so much prefer being around someone who vapes than who smokes.  Cigarettes stink on the person for hours.  I've been around people vaping and not even noticed that they were vaping. Also, I do have asthma and can't be around cigarette or cigar smoke.  Being around vaping has never caused me any issues.

Is it possible that vaping leaves harmful chemicals - maybe, but really, do you think that being in a room for 7 days where someone vaped a few weeks ago is worse than chemical residue from cleaners?

Exactly, that’s the discussion.  Allowing  vaping inside the cabins.

So far, only sailing out of Australia is the exception, to this new rule.

I think allowing vaping in your cabin is disgusting. I would prefer that the whole ship be no smoking. But that's my opinion. I wouldn't mind spending a few dollars in the casino but because of the smoking allowed I don't go. The only time I spend in the casino is if there is a group of us doing a slot pull. The last time on the Caribbean Princess I constantly smelled smoke from the casino while sitting at Crooners. On the same cruise on more than one occasion I would smell cigarette smoke on my balcony and found a cigarette butt one morning on the balcony floor. The biggest problem is people believe the rules DON'T apply to them. And if caught complain they didn't know the rules. Thanks, I needed to vape. I mean vent.🙂

Potentially being in a cabin for a month after somebody (maybe 2 people) has been vaping in it for a month is not acceptable.

Your contract says it IS allowed for vaping from Quebec?  SMH

No it says vaping is prohibited in staterooms and balconies.

I was responding to another poster who said their contract didn’t mention vaping.

I am sailing from Quebec in 2025 and the PC says no vaping in staterooms or balconies.

@paddingtonbear  He was responding to me after I responded to you.  Lol.
I have a cruise that sails from Quebec in Sept 2025 and it DOES say that vaping is allowed in the stateroom in my passenger contract.

So they do have different PCs for people from different countries of origin for the same cruise?
That is weird.

Maybe they are updating their PCs.
Very disappointing. Since Jan 2024 Australia has banned the importation of vapes (nicotine and non nicotine) because of a concern that young people have become increasingly addicted and the consequences are not good.

I do not like this new PC change allowing caping in staterooms.
